I became interested in the book in which the movie was written. The author gives me an insight on the human nature and needs that caused these gangs to originate. Many readers may find similarities to the gangs of today. Once I started reading, I found it hard to set down. True Story

I had seen the movie and didn't realize that it was based on a true story. I haven't finished it yet, but it is a great read.

The Gangs of New York by Herbert Asbury (2001)

this was a very interesting book. Kept me on my toes! I would suggest reading it to anyone who has the time. After reading the book I would like to take the tour through New York City.
