not what I expected!

I bought this, cause I seen the blocks and thought it would be a great quilt to make. the patterns for the blocks are terrible. The full pattern for each block is not complete and does not give very good instructions. I like the stories in the book, and I like the blocks, but I don't see making this quilt. This book is a fun quilt project. The story that is included is wonderful to read.

If you like working with Civil War reproductions, this is for you.

Stories are very interesting - you can put yourself in the timeframe and feel like you are living it. Availability of templates needed to make the quilt is a plus.

Great stories and challenging quilt blocks!

This is a great book. But it is not only about quilts, it is the stories written by the Farmer's wives that makes the book so worth buying. While the patterns are included, the 6 inch blocks are not for a beginning quiltmaker. I have made quilts for the last 20 years and I find quite a few of the blocks very challenging. Still, between the challenge of making all the blocks in the quilt and the stories of the wives, it is well worth the price.Lire l'avis complet...

Excellent book, for Quilting, and/or Reading.

Complete quilting book with everything you would expect, but very good reading with all the letters from the farmers' wives. It's easy to get engrossed in the letters and forget why you opened the book.

But just look at the quilt: It's wonderful, and by the way, the author sewed each block by hand. A 5-Star book for sure.Lire l'avis complet...

I have been very pleased with my purchase of the Farmers Wife

I purchased this book because of it's interest to me in the stories and the quilt patterns. I have really enjoyed reading The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt: Letters from 1920's. It is very interesting to read the different letters sent to the magazine as to why they would or would not want their daughters to marry a farmer, and especially from the 1920's. Each letter also has a quilt block pattern that each letter inspired and since I am a quilter it is a special book for me personally. The book is easy to follow and also has a dvd with all the templates for the quilt blocks on it.Lire l'avis complet...
