One of the best sitcoms of all time!

If there ever was a classic American television sitcom to be released onto the DVD market, it is 'The Dick Van Dyke Show'. After more than 40 years, the show still is a lot of fun to watch. The complete 25-disc DVD collection gathers together all 157 episodes from all 5 seasons. Every episode is beautifully remastered in both sound and picture quality. Kudos to the brilliance and creative genius of creator and producer Carl Reiner for giving the world such a fun program. There is also a treasure trove of extraordinary bonus materials included, as well; among the choice goodies are commentaries on selected episodes, interviews with cast and crew, an hour-long retrospective, the original pilot show entitled 'Head Of The Family', Emmy Awards highlights, and even 'The Making Of It May Look Like A Walnut' which tells about this classic episode that many fans consider one of the best of the entire series. The cast is superb; Dick Van Dyke is perfect as Rob Petrie, the head writer of 'The Alan Brady Show'; Morey Amsterdam as Buddy Sorrell and Rose Marie as Sally Rogers round out the trio of staff writers whose talents and quick-wits keep the show moving along at a fun and energetic pace; Richard Deacon, a veteran of 60s sitcoms, is well-cast as Mel Cooley; Mary Tyler Moore portrays Rob's wife Laura brilliantly, especially when she mutters the occasional 'Oh, Rob'. The Dick van Dyke Show - The Complete Series is an outstanding collection and well worth the price; and a great deal cheaper than buying the individual sets. Excellent quality and packed with bonus features. Their are no negatives.

This series is a classic and rightly so. From an era when story lines contained more than sexual innuendos, foul language, and no-talent pretty faces. The Dick van Dyke Show is a classic because it was and is funny without being nasty and perverted. Talented actors, great story lines and great character personalities.

This is a quality product of a quality production. A series that is enjoyable to watch over and over and over. I have watched this show for decades and still enjoy it every time I watch it. Timelessly Funny

"The Dick Van Dyke Show" is something the whole family can enjoy, without worrying about crude humor, bad scenes, or language. That being said, I can't endorse every single thing contained in this series--no one could--but the lighthearted approach to life has timeless appeal. The acting is superb, virtues are promoted, and problems are addressed with thoughtfulness. This set has bonus features, like photos, mini interviews, and commentaries. Great Deal!

I won this item a few weeks ago and am VERY pleased. The set of discs was pre-owned, described as having been viewed only a few times, and all discs play as new. This is a wonderful collection for those young and old who want to "go back" in time to enjoy the shows they loved from the sixties. Having ALL the episodes in one set is very convenient. The convenience of DVDs allows you to go directly to a certain show, or shows, to view - the show titles are listed on the back side of the cases. Worth the money for the product.

I love the older tv shows, no sex, violence or bad language. I like seeing the actors and actresses that I watched when I was growing up. I don’t understand what the little coloring book was for, I’m not senile or childish, just sentimental. Don’t understand why there was a little tv card, showing the hologram image of Laura sliding out of the closet. Also, the word “remastered” and the color on the box, against the black and white drawing, gave me the false impression that the video would be in color. An Amazing Series - consistently funny/tasteful humor

This series sticks in my mind from my youth. Great comedy done in good taste with family values. They have done a great job with the transfer to DVD. They are beautiful.
I am in the process of playing them for my children who really enjoy the humor and cringe with some of the predicaments the cast gets into. When you spread out the cost of each disk (25)- they are cheap. And a bargain when you factor in the quality of the writing in the scripts, Dick Van Dyke at his best, Mary Tyler Moore at her most appealing and an amazing supporting cast. Bought as a gift for 93 y/o Mom with advanced dementia.

I bought this as a gift for my 93 y/o Mom who has advanced dementia. I help with her care and I hoped that seeing some of the TV comedy sitcoms from her past, such as the Dick Van Dyke Show, would bring joy and laughter to her. And it does. Also ... Forgot how funny this show was.

I originally purchased a special edition dvd with a few episodes on it for my father. As the first couple family members saw good episodes, they wanted to show others the cool series. Eventually the household became a The Dick Van Dyke Show fanatical advocate, and the only option left was to purchase the whole series. We love this series because it's funny, often an exaggerated true-to-life storyline, makes you smile and is something you can watch with the whole family. Great addition to old TV show library!

This was the cheapest complete set I could find anywhere. Amazingly low price, even on Buy it Now! I checked everywhere; Wal Mart, Target, ebay, Sears, and many more sites. $35 for the entire set beats $100+ any time, even if it was used.
