5 stars if you don't watch the trailer first!
THE DAISY CHAIN is a riveting psychological thriller, but only if you DON'T watch the trailer first. The trailer is like a fast-forward version of the movie, revealing every plot point that SHOULD be a surprise. It is much more enjoyable to watch THE DAISY CHAIN without knowing up front if Daisy is an emotionally disturbed little girl, or a fairy changeling. Yes, I said FAIRY CHANGELING. It's refreshing to see an evil child movie where the evil child's behavior is attributed to something other than demon possession. It seems strange that ALL the adults in an Irish village in 2008 believe in fairies without question. The film might be offensive to rural Irish people, who are portrayed as superstitious and unkind. Then again, perhaps this is the Irish equivalent of the backwoods United States town that crops up in many horror movies, where nothing has changed since the 1950s and a creepy gas station attendant warns outsiders to get out while they can. Daisy is convincingly played by Mhairi Anderson, a child actress whose evil-yet-vulnerable performance reminded me of Jodelle Ferland. If you like the evil-child genre, this one is worth seeing.Lire l'avis complet...
