Practical, Useful, Mind-bending

LOVE this book. Intensely practical info. The thought process for some activities or crafts is more important than the actual craft itself is one of the themes contained in this book. She realizes that different people have varied goals as well as varied situations and so gives a lot of different ideas. Changed the way I evaluate purchases, organization, and what factors are truly imperative to my goal achievement. Has allowed my family to comfortably live on one income. Life is relaxed, yet productive. Resources constantly present themselves. I've seen reviews in other places that deride the book and the author. I don't agree with some of their attitudes and don't think they fully grasped some of what the author was saying. I even don't agree with some of the suggestions this author presents. I just wouldn't use those suggestions for personal reasons. However, life throws things at you sometimes and this book is immensely insightful, pertinent, useful. Interesting book

Ms. Dacyczyn has some fantastic ideas to help each of us save money. Some ideas I thought were better than others. I enjoyed the thought of using recycled items as craft projects, such as frozen juice metal caps as refrig. magnets w/ photos of family members attached. Some I thought were too far out there. Reusing Ziploc bags & foil over & over can cause you to get sick if not washed correctly. Take some of her advice with a grain of salt. Yes, we need to use what we have & watch our spending. My retirement is still on track!

Fantasic book that I read years ago. This book has helped me save more than 50% (yes, 50%) of my net pay, and even in this terrible economy I am still planning an early retirement.

I bought this used copy on e-bay for my step-daughter who used to buy "designer coffee" every morning on her way to work. After explaining how hard she has to work in order to buy her daily $5.00 coffee ($5.00 coffee/day x 5 days a week=$25.00 or also $100.00/month. This is more than her power bill or cell phone bill), I am slowly converting her to being a "saver." I was thrilled when she recently announced that she now buys Folgers coffee on sale and makes it at home. Complete Tightwad Gazette

I had one of the volumes but needed to see the "whole picture" of tightwaddery!! this is an awesome volume of can't put it down reading of how to methodize your daily life to save for your long term goals. The only reason any one would poo poo this book is if they are so sophisticated that they feel it beneath them to do anything to save a few pennies. Amy tries to present all sides of an issue and I have learned how to think all issues in this way now and have even come up with some of my own ways to be thrifty since reading this massive volume of great information that goes the whole gamet of issues from life to death and all issues associated therein. a truly remarkable insight into all things - legal and otherwise - how to find out if something you need to do is legal for sure is up to the person on the mission. I have been frugal all my life having learned it from grandparents that made it thru the Great Depression, but this book has even broadened those horizons with more information and recipes for daily living. a great book, a great read, a great researcher/ author/ idea sharer!!Lire l'avis complet...

Great book!!! Excellent for anyone wanting to cut back

If you are wanting to save $, but wondering how, this book is for you!!! Thousands of ways to save money - ways that work in the real world, not just Fantasy Land!

Example: I used to own a daycare center. By using some of the author's strategies, I sliced the food bill by approximately 60% per month!!

My copy was purchased thru a book club (ouch!) & laid around my house for about a year before I ever opened the cover. Once I turned the first page, I couldn't put it down!!!!

The author gives $$ saving strategies on everything from slicing your grocery bill to taming the Christmas $$ beast to raising less label conscious kids to building savings while slicing debt to anyway possible to cut spending & debt while increasing your net worth.

Several of my friends & family wanted to borrow the book, but I refused to let it out of my sight (usually I'm not a stingy person). Instead, I bought a copy as a Christmas present for those who asked to borrow it. They couldn't put it down either.

This is most likely the BEST $$ you will ever spend on a book. If you utilize only one or two of its simplest strategies, you will recoup the cost of the book from the $$ saved.
