This book blows me away. My favorite film is The Ninth Gate so obviously I had to read the source material. Absolutely amazing material.

The work of a true Master Wordsmith, buy a copy.

I was introduced to this story by the movie "The Ninth Gate". The first time I read "The Club Dumas" the copy was a paperback, this order was for a nice hardcover edition (which I will read again sooner or later) for my permanent collection. Reverte's writing took me into the strange world of Lucas Corso and I was swept along until there weren't anymore words on pages to read, quite a ride. Because its the English translation , of the book that was written in French . My favorite movie ''The Ninth Gate '' was based on this book ..

The story behind "The Ninth Gate"

I got the book after seeing "The Ninth Gate" because I really liked that movie. This book has two stories in parallel, the first about a cub of Dumas fans where each member adopts a chapter and a character from Dumas, the second story about the pursuit of a pact with a devil as per a centuries old book. Either story would make a good book on it's own, together they make for many hours of delightful entertainment.Lire l'avis complet...

The book is different from the movie based on it ("The Ninth Gate"), but just as exciting. Perez-Reverte is an excellent author!
