The City of Ember by Jeanne Duprau
The City of Ember is the best of the three books in this series by Jeanne Duprau. I enjoyed the book and it was read rather quickly. The book involves a city that was built many years ago but has problems with supplying people with basic needs. The cities only light is from electrical power that is on the edge of failing completely. The main people in the book are described very well and you really understand the problems they are facing. I would recommend the book as it is entertaining and easy reading.Lire l'avis complet...
Poor quality
I love the story but my book came used and the front cover was bent in half. I was disappointed.

The City of Ember
I needed to order eight of these books to use with a group of fifth graders I volunteer with once a week. I began a book club and this book was recommended by one of the teachers in the school. It is new (2003)and deals with many issues of environment, energy, community, refugees. Also, it has a male and a female hero! The kids really seem to like it so far. It is the first in a trilogy and I have already ordered the second book through ebay.Lire l'avis complet...

my son says this book is a dud
sorry, but my son read the first two chapters and said this book was a dud. He quit reading it and started a different book. I bought this book as well as "People of Sparks." I guess I will list them or donate to charity. I did not read this book myself but my son said it was boring. He is in the 6th grade.Lire l'avis complet...
