The Black Dahlia (DVD, 2006)

This was a poorly filmed and directed movie. It seems like a project that nobody really wanted to do, so they did it poorly. This is a famously popular topic in the police history of LA. In the sixty years since Elizabeth Short's nude, cut into two pieces body was discovered in a Los Angeles vacant lot all sorts of things have been said. It appears clear to me that this was a case that has either political or Big-Money ties, and therefore was too "hot" to solve. Evidence was lost and mishandled, and too many hands were all over this case. I thought that the dialogue was awful and the musical score totally unbefitting to this film. The story is an important one, but the film didn't advance anything new.Lire l'avis complet...

Not Very Good, Not Very Good at all

Not Very Good, Not Very Good at all

The Black Dahlia was nothing that I thought it'd be and that turned me away from the movie from the beginning. It was very hard to follow due to shifting scenes and a hard to follow storyline.

At 2 hours long the movie finally got decent 3/4 of the way through, but that wasn't enough to save this movie. This movie is far too confusing and most of the stuff that confused you still doesn't make sense after everything unravels at the end.

Final Verdict:

2/5

Rent or Buy?: I wish I hadn't wasted the $5 I did renting this movie. If you have the movie channel, wait until it comes on, if not rent this one, but make sure you use a rent one get one free coupon.

The Black Dahlia

I m watching this movie now and am truely disappointed. Being a true crime buff, I had been eagerly awaiting viewing this movie. The movie starts out with overly long character sketches of the detectives investigating the crime, to which none of it makes any difference in the movie or the crime. It is long and tedious and finally they introduce the murder of the Dahlia, then it is more about the detectives. It is terribly boring and could have been a great film if they concentrated on the title of the movie and not on the detectives. YAWN. I suggest taking out a book from the library, it would be far more entertaining and you will actually learn more about this legendary murder than you will in this movie.Lire l'avis complet...

The Black Dahlia (2006, DVD)

i am a huge true crime person and i have read a huge amount of information on the Dahlia case. I read the new book that came out that the movie is based on before i saw the movie. Was not real impressed. I felt the movie has way to little information and was missing information that could have made the movie better.Lire l'avis complet...

Good Movie; Adult Situations; Violence

Though overly fictionalized; it was a better movie than I expected; Josh Hartnett is a great as leading man; Scarlett Johansen, & Hillary Swank shine as Leading Lady, & Femme Fatale; there is an outstanding preformance by veteran English character actress Fiona Shaw(Ghormanghast/The Avengers) as the rather eccentric/crazy mother of Hillary Swank's character.Lire l'avis complet...
