A Great Gift

I bought "The Best of the Johnny Cash TV Show 1969-1971" (a 2 DVD set) as a gift for my significant other who's a great Cash fan, so, in essence, I couldn't go wrong. But this collection is much more than I'd bargained for. It's not just Johnny and June but Mother Maybelle and the rest of the Carter family, the Statler Bros and a host of country performers who were guests on the show 35+ years ago. And to really sweeten this collection, there are performances by guests like Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Louis Armstrong, Eric Clapton, Pete Seeger, Kris Kristofferson and a teenage Linda Ronstadt. So this is really a little time capsule -- a reminder of the late '60s and early '70s and the blossoming of musical talents that are in full bloom today. Money well spent

Watched this DVD the other night and was totally captivated by the wide range of guests Johnny had on his show. Every one for a young Hank Williams Jr. to the amazing Louis Armstrong made this DVD a joy to watch.
It's a tough call but my favorite part of this amazing DVD had to be when Carl Perkins came out to join Derek and the Dominos to do a scorching version of Matchbox. I would definitely recommend this to any person who is a fan of music from the 50's through the 70's.Lire l'avis complet...

Anyone who loves all styles of music should see this DVD set. It includes the best of everyone from back in the day...I love it! Of course I love Johnny Cash! The guests are just icing on the cake!

Groovy Baby!!!

Great show, however sound and picture quality was lacking. I grew up in the 60’s and 70’s and I had forgotten about the low tech days! All in all a great flashback!

This is a Beautiful 2 Dics Box Set with 2 Booklets. It is One of the Best DVD sets I have ever seen..!! Disc One has a mixture of Interviews mixed with Performances. Disc Two has more straight Performances than Disc One. They are a real Pleasure.

Stunning Musical History

This DVD box set has it all. Great performances, excellent audio and video and amazing depth. Dont be fooled by what you might have seen on PBS. That was just some excerpts from the 2 DVD box. The PBS version was great but only had about 80 minutes of the almost 4 hours that is on the DVD. Plus the DVD has great documentary footage that pulls all the backstory of the Johnny Cash Television show together.Lire l'avis complet...
