When ZZ Top was heavy.

Though many will opt for the more 80s oriented "Greatest Hits" package, featuring the synthesized MTV version of ZZ Top, that package cannot possibly approach the power conveyed on this disc. Some forget what a blisteringly hard band ZZ was in their early years. Essentials such as "Waitin' for the Bus", "Jesus Left Chicago", "Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers", and "Heard it on the X" are all missing from "Greatest Hits" but present here. Make sure to get the remastered version released in '04, which is a huge upgrade in sound quality, upping the powerful feel of these rockers considerably. "Deguello" is their best single studio album, and was made after this compilation but before their synthesization, so purchase of that CD with this one will give you all you need of the "hard" ZZ Top. If unlike me you also like the newer stuff, nothing wrong with owning both "The Best Of ZZ Top" and "Greatest Hits", as there are only 2 overlapping cuts ("Tush" and "La Grange").Lire l'avis complet...

GREAT road music!!

Good selection from the early days when they were (IMHO) in their prime. Rockin and bluesy... it's most of the songs that I would have choose also. Wish it had some expanded tracks for the CD edition... maybe live ones like "Thunderbird" and "Jailhouse Rock" from the awesome "Fandango"... Oh well, one can dream can't they.Lire l'avis complet...

I have a large CD collection, like 2,000+ and this was one I didn't have. I purchased along with 4 other CD's from the same seller. Very pleased. Not a big ZZ Top fan but my sons are so its for them.

Best of "Early" ZZ TOP

Has what ZZ TOP's publishers thought was their best stuff through the 70s. Short-style CD, limited cuts, length as if it were an LP -- Includes all-time best, LaGrange. Good deal, especially if you just like their earlier songs.Lire l'avis complet...
