Memory Baskets
I bought this book because I wanted to learn to make baskets -- not the usual version of baskets though. I wanted to learn to weave baskets from all the electrical wire in my garage. I always told my husband he'd better not die first and leave me with that garage to clean out. He was killed while on duty as a deputy sheriff on 4-23-04 Amongst all the other "treasures" in the garage is this lifetime supply of electrical wire -- various sizes and colors.
I was able to learn enough fromn this book to start my basket project. The first one took on a shape of its own, and I'm sure the next ones I make will as well. For Valentines Day I put together a photo of the basket with our last anniversary photo and sent a copy to each of our 3 daughters with the following caption: "Remembering with love is about keeping the connection -- but in new ways." I think my husband is having a HUGE laugh at this! My plan is to make unique baskets for each of the girls and all 7 of the grandchildren.
I'd insert the basket photo here if it was possible. The basket is displayed proudly in my dining room.
The only thing I'd improve in the book is to use color or shading and larger detailed drawings that demonstrate different weaving techniques.
I am, however, very pleased to find this excellent resource that gave me the courage to try something new that I'd never thought of before.
Now...I'm off to carry out some more "graceful rennovations" in my life.

The Basket Book
Marvelous basket making book. Clear, concise and excellent instructions.
This author and basket maker is one of the best. Do yourself a favor and take one of her classes when she is teaching in your area.
Lyn's expertise brings basket weaving to a new level and if you own one of her original baskets, consider yourself fortunate.
Gorgeous & varied patterns. These are wonderful "coffee table" books.

Lyn Siler is an excellent teacher of basket weaving. I have used this book for years along with my basket buddies. I purchased this copy for my sister who is just getting started in making baskets. I am sure she will enjoy her copy as much as I have mine.Lire l'avis complet...
