What can i say about this? funny movie , kinda like the thunderbirds of the 60's on crack. Don't watch this around children as it is very adult theme and language. So if you want a good ole fashion silly type funny movie to watch then you'll like it. The way the team comes blasting into an area to kill terrorists and wind up taking out half the city is great, and after they leave they show the citizens just staring around at the destroyed city scape. You have to laugh at the absurdity of it all after all it's just a movie and a puppet one at that. all in all it's a good movie. Watch for the little things where you just have to rewind to make sure you saw right, like the guy riding his motorcycle down the road...a real road and it's so funny to see the small scale of these things acting like humans. enjoy!Lire l'avis complet...

Clever.

A nod to the old Supermarianaton Gerry Anderson TV shows of the 1960s.
Very clever and well done satire.
Some good gags (the martial arts fight in the beginning is a hoot) but definitely not for kids.

Buy. Watch. Laugh. Team America is Hilarious

If you've read any of my reviews before, you probably know that I am proponent of collecting DVDs that will get reuse - for that reason comedy's tend to play a key role in my collection because, for some reason, I get good usage out of comedies (perhaps because I don't need to watch from start to finish each time?). Team America is a definitely collection adder because it has great re-watch-ability - in fact, its funnier the 2nd and 3rd time around.

Team America was created and written by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone - now I've never been a Southpark fan, but this is fantastically funny stuff. Parker and Stone leave nothing unturned (pardon the pun) - whether its celebrities, politicians, religion, current events, etc - they poke fun at it. And usually in a hysterical, raunchy way. Besides the creators, the actors are a cast of string puppets which move so awkwardly that you cant help but laugh.

Highlights include:
* The puppets in general - the herky-jerky motions and awkward movements are hilarious - making simple acts like walking and 'love-making' quite funny.

* The music and soundtrack are fantastic - from ballads about how terrible Ben Affleck and Pearl Harbor are to "Freedom isn't Free"... you'll be laughing

* A raunchy scene involving marionette sex

FUNNIEST FILM EVER!!!

Anyone that grew up in the sixties with the original "Thunderbirds" marionette "cartoon"/show can appreciate this film. Once I saw the trailer I knew it was a spoof on marionettes. No one else seemed to get it. There are no holds barred on this film, it is a world wide satire on EVERYTHING!! They make fun of marionettes (some call them "puppets", but that is a misnomer), the U.S., Iraq, North Korea, actor-activists, you name it. If anyone has told you that it leans this way or that politically, they are mistaken, it is all over the place. No one is safe. This film is absolutely hilarious. Period. One warning though, DO NOT LET YOUR KIDS SEE THIS! It is filthy.

For anyone who watches this film and says that a certain demographic would not like it (children may like it, but still shouldn't watch it) just means that that person didn't "get it". It is also funny that people from other countries don't think that we in the U.S. would think it was funny. Just shows how they THINK that they know us and they don't know us at all! Most U.S. citizens do not fit into this stereotype shown in this film. It is a SATIRE! It is a parody! From the makers of South Park ~ Matt Stone & Trey Parker. Parker and Stone tell the story of a small group of heroic figures who span the globe protecting democracy and freedom against terrorism. Along the way, they destroy such famous international landmarks as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Sphinx in Egypt, and the Panama Canal. Meanwhile they are developing close relationships that lead from love to jealousy, and finally betrayal. Their primary mission is to stop North Korean leader Kim Jong Il's peace conference, which is a ruse to allow him to attack the rest of the world with his weapons of mass destruction. Team America must also take on F.A.G., the Film Actors Guild, which is supporting the peace conference, including such participants as Alec Baldwin, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn, George Clooney, and other actors who have spoken out against the war in Iraq. Parker and Stone even blast FAHRENHEIT 9/11 director Michael Moore. Among the very funny/wrong songs in the film are "Everyone Has AIDS" (from the Broadway musical LEASE), "Only a Woman" (about homosexuality), and "I'm So Ronery" (Kim Jong Il's soaring solo). Despite having no actual humans in it, the movie earns its R rating with lots of blood, very adult language, and a steamy puppet sex scene, with almost every perverse sex act imaginable.
“Team America: World Police” is not for the easily offended, anyone who believes terrorism should never be the subject of a joke, people who get freaked out watching plastic actors with their strings visible (most of Hollywood's real plastic actors are pretty good at concealing their strings), any member of the ‘politically correct’ police, people who can’t stand the frequent use of the f-word, and those who can’t handle puppet porn. “Team America” has definitely earned its R/ NC-17 rating. This movie may feature cute little marionettes, but it’s absolutely not meant for kids.

Reflective Social Commentary

In a compelling accurate yet comedic portrayal of the generic middle American herd mind reaction to the response of the events of 911, 2001 Americans found their nation hijacked, thrust into endless war without a clearly defined enemy of strategic plan, rather they were cowed into following nihilists at the top of the power structure who had little or no regard for both domestic or international law, in pursuing phantoms across the globe, expending vast numbers of lives and resources for the enrichment of the few who benefited directly from the suspension of reality in this video game role playing mode of leadership that seized power as a dictatorship for over 8 years, as a farcical counterpoint, we have this, one of the most memorable and refreshing representations of the coup ideology represented in play terms carried out by puppets.Truly a wacky, enlightening parallel to causality and oversimplification of realities can be deducted by viewing this film. i knew before i ordered this, that the puppet movie was r-rated adult content. still it is funny, an gets better after a few. takes a bit, to get me, to laugh. even before a few. this adult puppet, movie, tickles my funny bone.

cool movie

it's funny as hell!!! it's politically incorrect, gores all sacred cows, has fun doing it! if you don't mind the F-word, buy it, you'll love it, brief marionette nudity, LOL (that's a total joke!) the marionettes are well done. team america resides in mt rushmore!!! well done animation of that as well, where else can you see marionettes using fully automatic weapons? bleeding, projectile vomiting!!! as i said, funny as hell!!!Lire l'avis complet...

Great DVD, funny as hell, happy to own this movie

seen this movie before, never seen unrated version, watched it last night and found that there wasn't much extra material as compared to original, but still glad to own it, Parker and Stone are creative geniuses, lacking maturity in their humor, but still successful in what they do. This marionette-based portrayal of the state of unrest the world is in has been the most successful and probably the most time-consuming project that Parker and Stone have accomplished in the tenure of their career.Lire l'avis complet...

Absolutely histerical!

Gratuitous foul language, (puppet) nudity, violence, stereotyping and a whole slew of other inappropriate features make this movie the funniest one-of-a-kind comedy i may have ever seen! Luckily, the writers took extra measures to offend everyone so no one would feel left out. Truely a break-through in live-action puppetry and just a histerically hilarious movie over-all! Hours of simply amazing extras on the DVD that are endlessly interesting. If all screen play writers had this kind of creativity i'd be willing to bet even Will Ferrell could be funny!
