I am glad to have it and did not realize it existed until I got on ebay.

This book is written for those who are interested in the impressionist and the modern artist living in Paris from around 1980's to the 1930's. Her life was intertwined with so many of the artist during this time period. She, Suzanne Valadon, was an artist as well. For the time period she was controversial in that she was a mistress of several well known artist and some not so well known. She had an illegitimate child was became an artist as well whom she never stated who the father was. Though the child took the name Utrillo that was not his birth father. She carried this secret to her grave. Her son is more famous than she is in notoriety. Utrillo, her son, was an alcoholic and she took care of him the majority of her life. For the time, she was what we would considered scandalous and her art as well of her female nudes and her taking on a young male lover made her more talked about. The author has really done a thorough biography with her work and it is an interesting and informative book to read.Lire l'avis complet...

Not only a very good biography of Suzanne Valadon but as far as I can tell after much study of the Belle
Epoque an accurate depiction of the art community at the turn of the century. I recommend it for anyone
