A Reliable Chainsaw

A few years ago my son bought me a brand new Craftsman gasoline powered chainsaw for Christmas. Normally, I consider Craftsman to be a quality product but this thing was junk. Every time we tried to start it it either wouldn't start or took so much effort I thought I was going to have a heart attack. It was in the shop for repairs nearly as many times as we were able to use it. We finally said enough and went online to find a chainsaw that was top rated by Consumer Reports. This was the Stihl. awesome saw! light but powerful - Perfect for YOU! yes YOU.
I use a saw with loads of experience. Good saw for the homeowner and expert. You can also buy better bars, wheels and chain for these saws. Cut like a woodsman with options. Nice replacement

Does not have the "ms 180" writing on the side like the picture shows. Eliminates some parts for the pull start but does not affect the performance. Have used the saw multiple times since installation with no problems. Takes a while to get but was not in a rush. Would reccomend this product. Lire l'avis complet...

Small saw big results!

I was amazed how good this little cheap saw cuts! I think it's because they use such a narrow chain and bar. It doesn't take as much power to cut through. I was just going to use it to trim branches and ended up cutting the whole load of wood with it. Really suprised me with it's power and RPM's. LOTS of "bang for the buck"! I would buy another. I don't really care for the "tooless" chain tightening method. That could go away and it would be better but it does work. I got mine for $150.00 so who can complain?Lire l'avis complet...

this saw has good power for the size of saw, runs great. easy to work on, great saw to limb out trees.

Worst Stihl you can buy

Stihl should pull this model from production. Or at least put a different carburetor on it.
It will run and perform great for awhile, but as soon as it doesn't run right, it's garbage. The carburetor is only adjustable for idle speed, so it's virtually impossible to tune. Ethanol or just old gas will destroy the carb diaphragms fast. Putting a new carb on it will only fix it some of the time. The rest of the time it just needs fine tuned like any other chainsaw. Even Poulans and Homelites have adjustable carbs.
If you're looking for a small chainsaw, get an Echo, Husqvarna, or a Poulan. Don't waste your time and money on a Stihl MS-180 or MS-170.Lire l'avis complet...

love this saw

Great chainsaw. I use it for cutting limbs and small stuff. It is light to carry all day and very powerful for its size. I have cut down some trees twice the size of the bar, and it still did the job, just took a little while. If the bar was bigger, it could possibly handle bigger trees, but with the 14" bar it is limited to smaller wood. It always starts with in five cranks, and has not let me down.Lire l'avis complet...

Easy to use, cuts great.

Great little saw. The 14" bar seems ideal, you can bury it into the tree and have nice cutting power still. I tend to over-use my little saws (180,192), they cut so well. Very light and easy to start. Perfect for 12" diameter or less. I love mine.Lire l'avis complet...

Cover fit just like it should, just hope the recoil holds up.
