This punch is exactly what I wanted. The fit and finish are outstanding and what you would expect from Starrett. A word of caution, this center punch requires a bit of grunt to get it to fire. If you're not directly over it and have a good hand on it, it won't fire and will definitely wear you out. I'm sure it can be turned down but mine did not come with any instructions. STARRETT CENTER PUNCH

This punch packs a wallop. I have a General punch I been using since the seventies but when using it on metal it didn’t leave a good deep dimple. The STARRETT punch leaves a nice deep dimple so when drilling the bit doesn’t wander. Looking at this punch one can see the excellent build quality. It’s a beaut. Lire l'avis complet

Not The Same As The Cheap Ones In Menard's, etc.

Used this automatic punch already to help drill holes in 3/16 inch steel to mount 50' air hose reel. Perfect, deep, centering dimple, first try. I should have had one of these a long time ago. I could have saved a lot of aggravation and money on bits. Rigid, centered, hard, precision tool with no gaps or looseness, at all. Outside diameter knurl allows tight grip, and it's adjustable to punch a deep, accurate, centering divet very loudly and forcefully in steel.Lire l'avis complet

A center punch that packs a punch

This can be a bit pricey for a center punch. But like anything from Starrett, it's top-quality.

It does pack quite a bit of energy, easily leaving a nice dimple even in stainless steel. It's adjustable so it will also work with softer metals. Just be aware that the adjustment is at the back of the tool, and not the front. Would be nice if there were simple instructions in the box.Lire l'avis complet

Excellent made in USA quality !!!!!! Products like this should remind us that the latest and greatest is not always the best!!!! This will out last me. Large, very strong automatic punch. All good.

Very well made and strong. The point is a bit wider than my previous instance of an automatic punch, so it has a broader point. The spring is VERY strong, probably stronger than I need, but it certainly does the job it was designed to do and does it very well. I'm sure it's going to last a long time.Lire l'avis complet

Awesome Tool

This is by far the best automatic center punch I have owned or seen.
It is made in the USA. Feels good in your hands and the spring tension is adjustable
for different materials.

Good quality tool.

Easy to adjust striking force and is of very good quality, the knurling makes it easy to hold on to.
