Step down from Warhawk

I bought this thinking a sequel to the legendary Warhawk would build on its predecessors successes and improve on its shortcomings. Unfortunately Starhawk is not the game it could have been. First off, the single player campaign is dull and repetitive right from the get go. No climax or game changing events just the same capture and defend objectives over and over again. I know it's supposed to be a tutorial for the multiplayer but damn was it bleak. Now, the multiplayer is actually quite good on its own, however when comparing it to Warhawk it doesn't quite deliver in the same way. This new mech/hawk mechanic is cool at first but soon you realize that the mechs are cumbersome and not really that fun. The hawk is fast and fun to fly around but when engaging others in dogfight, missiles are nigh impossible to dodge without flares and flares/chaff are no longer a pickup but rather slowly reload over time. This makes the learning curve incredibly steep. Playing against experienced players becomes a huge barrier to entry. Overall this game is okay and considering I bought it for just shy of $10 it's a good value. But if you're trying to decide between Warhawk and Starhawk, the former is the clear choice in my opinion.
Ps: if you buy a used copy of this game (which I did) you have to purchase an additional $10 "online pass" which is the biggest load of bull I've ever heard of. This game is nothing without its multiplayer element. And charging an extra ten bucks on top of the purchase of the game is just plain money grabbing by Sony. Shame. I hope this online pass crap is eradicated from the face of the earth forever. Cheers.Lire l'avis complet...

Awesome Game! Great price! The more people the better!

Great Game! As a Warhawk veteran, Starhawk called for my attention. Single player is great as a simple long run tutorial on how to maneuver in every situation, but good story nonetheless. The best, of course, the multiplayer! Be it Coop (1 to 4 players) defending wave after wave of enemies creates a great bond for friends or strangers to work together. And the whole multiplayer up to 32 people is a chaotic, fun challenge! Many modes to play and very different ways to play! It's hard to get used to at first, but with practice and help from the Starhawkthegame.com forum, you'll be up to any challenge in no time! Definitely recommend for anyone wanting a big multiplayer game to have fun and get hooked up for many hours and days straight! ;)

Fun Online MP!

This game has great online multiplayer, just be prepared to respawn alot as some players are REALLY good at this. The campaign is a little weak but it serves as a perfect introduction to the controls and situations you encounter in MP. The ability to build your own bases/buildings means this game has high replay value and being 3rd person shooter its a nice break from the more common 1st person online shooters. Okay, I went a little overboard so I'm changing my review. Starhawk is a great game and will definetly go on my list of favorites. The multiplayer is the highlight of the game, so obviously it's awesome. In second place is the splitscreen survival/defense mode, which can be played solo, online, or splitscreen co-op. The singleplayer is in last place, with an O.K. storyline, but it tells you exactly where your enemies will spawn and does not prepare you well for the multiplayer. Overall, I give starhawk a 5/5 for fast paced gameplay and the unique Build n' Battle system which lets you change the course of the game with the press of a button. BUY THIS!Lire l'avis complet...

Breaking the norm of online shooters!

If you are looking for a unique multiplayer then try this! The single player campaign is merely a tutorial and not the focus of this game. The online multiplayer is just awesome, however. Most bugs and imbalances have already been patched and they are continuing to balance the game and give new maps (for free). The developer does not believe in charging extra for downloadable content so any new items or maps later will be free as well. My favorite PlayStation Game!

This game is awesome! The centerpiece of this game is the multi-player game play. Sony did an excellent job incorporating 32 player matches without lag. The only lag I notice in big games when I have my son playing duel screen with me. The story mode is unique with the cowboy town theme in the back drop of space and scabs (which I refer to as space zombies). Awesome game, and I hope Sony keeps this title alive!

Cool vehicles, great graphics, gameplay variety.

This game kind of reminds me of Halo and also some strategic elements, like The Outfit (2006). There's so much variety, a lot of cool vehicles, and beautiful graphics.

Great game, but buy it new to get the most out of it.

Starhawk is, at its heart, a really inventive game with a unique style of gameplay. However, my experience with the game was negative, as I bought my copy used, and therefore was unable to play online, missing out on what drew me to the game in the first place. If you like crazy map-traversing flying/speeding/shooting action like any reasonable human being, it's a great game to shake up the usual offerings, but ONLY if you can play against real people.Lire l'avis complet...
