Great for younger Star Wars fans aged 4 to 10

Highly recommended! My kids are 4 and 7 years old, and they both absolutely love this disc and watch it repeatedly. I rented volume 1 for them at my local video store once, knowing that my kids had an interest in Star Wars through Legos, and we ended up re-renting it a couple of times because they liked it so much. When I tracked down volume 2 on half.com I had to get it for them. I also ended up just buying the copy we rented from the video store, lol.

I have to say that even as a peripheral fan of Star Wars, I enjoyed these animated Clone Wars DVDs as well, and they have in fact made me a bigger SW fan. The lion's share of the characters are recognizable from Episodes I, II and III. The animation by Cartoon Network artists is top-notch, if a bit caricature-like, but that adds to the unusual look. They even matched a lot of the voice talent to sound like the films. George Lucas himself provided guidance and approval, and the music is all John Williams, lifted from the original movies, and it really gives it an authentic feel. I guess this used to be a TV series, but on these discs you get to see all the episodes strung together like one long film.

Nothing too objectionable or scary here; my son is the 4 year old and he hasn't had any adverse reactions to scenes. There is a lot of laser gun shooting and stuff being blown up during space battles, and of course the usual light saber battles, but no blood or realistic stuff at all (a lot of clone troopers and Empire battle droids get stomped, shot at or cut up, but they're robots). On the back of the DVD it says that it's suitable for all ages, but I wouldn't necessarily show it to kids who have had no exposure to Star Wars at all. It's mostly about the good guys (Jedi knights) versus the evil Sith fighters, and I would say on a par with any animated Batman or Superman animated films. Definitely great for younger Star Wars (or any other sci-fi) fans.

Necessity for any collector or fan

The Clone Wars animated series is a must own for any serious Star Wars fanatic. Filling in content gaps between episodes 2 and 3, it tells an interesting part of the Star Wars saga, including part of Anakin Skywalker's decent into the dark side. For some people the animation style might take some getting used to, but I found that once I got into it I really liked it, despite being a little put off at first. Personally I love the vehicle and space animation, as the combination of animation and CGI go very well with the animator's style, and as always the lightsaber scenes are awesome (to be fair it doesn't take much to make a lightsaber scene appealing to me). I would highly recommend this DVD (and the first volume) to anybody who loves Star wars, you will not be disappointed!Lire l'avis complet...

Connects the Dots

The Star Wars animated series fills in the gap between 'Revenge of the Sith' and 'A New Hope.' Star Wars - Clone Wars Vol. 2 in particular connects the dots leading up to Revenge of the Sith movie. Like, it explains why General Grievous acts like someone with asthma. Don't be mislead, the fact that this medium is animation it doesn't necessarily mean it's for kids. Directed by the creator of Samurai Jack (an action packed animation geared towards the young and middle aged adult male audience), Genndy Tartakovsky. He's able to apply the same astounding action sequences and great screen stop sequences as he did with Samurai Jack. Working in a Star Wars motif even made his work so compeling. I hate to say this, but if he directed the last Star Wars trillogy, with George Lucas's blessings of course, I bet the last part of the saga would have been so much non-boring.

Volume 2 reveals the path that made Anakin prone to the influences of the dark side. It chronicles his Jedi training and the events leading up to the Revenge of the Sith.

If you are a Star Wars fan or just curious about certain things in Star Wars Episode 3, the animated series will help shed light.

Again, don't squirm if this is an animation. Watch it, and you'll be amazed.

This is no powerpuff stuff!

Excellent action and speed.

I expected a simple cartoon much like the ancient star wars cartoon a few decades ago. I recieved something entirely different. The Clone Wars is a period that would of made a pure action movie. It wouldn't of been much different then something like platoon or full metal jacket mixed with some midway in the middle. This section was not going to move the story along well in the primary 3 movies covering this subject. In animation they were able to exagerate the fighting and accelerate long drawn out sections quickly and keep the story moving. This story is obviously ment to be cannon and part of the Star Wars universe inside lucas's mind. I understood his comentaty about it and the parts he took control of. It is a great segway into episode 3. It doesn't exactly explain the scar on his face but it does show the period in which it occured. It also shows the changes in young skywalker and allows you to understand episode III abit better. I would recomend reading James Luceno's book from just before episode III to fully understand greavous and other related topics. The new Cloan Wars Movie starts just after these 2 comic movies incase you were conserned about spoilers.Lire l'avis complet...

Clone Wars - The Begining of the End

Ever wonder what was happening just before Star Wars Episode III? How did Chancellor Palpatine get kidnapped? Where were Anakin and Obi-Wan before they showed up to save him? Why is the big, bad General Grevious a coughing wuss and why does he use lightsabers? The answers to these questions, action, heroics, and tragedy can all be found in the second volume of the Star Wars: Clone Wars 2D animated series. Just like most of the stories of the Clone Wars wasn't depicted in the movies, Anakin's ascension into Jedi Knighthood and his trials are explored in this exciting series. All Jedi need to pass that stage, even the Chosen One. Don't miss the chance to see this and other key moments in the life of Anakin Skywalker, the soon-to-be Sith Lord Darth Vader.Lire l'avis complet...

Must see before Episode III

Aside from the interesting story telling, action sequences and great animation, Vol. 2 explains the sequence of events as you approach the very first scene from Star Wars Episode 3. I almost wish that Lucas either started Ep III with this cartoon, or showed just shot and included the last 9 minutes of this story as the beginning of the movie. It is that good.

My son, who is 6, has watched all the movies and the two relevant Clone Wars animated DVDs. The expanded treatment of this particular set of stories is one of his favorites. I cannot say why, but he is very engaged, asks a multitude of questions and is focused while viewing Vol 2.

Awesome...especially for any Star Wars fan...

I have not seen this just yet, but have seen vol I and have been watching the recent Clone Wars cartoon on Cartoon Network and really enjoy them. My 10 yr old son has seen this and says it's awesome; even better than vol I. Apparently it is along the same line as the current cartoon on tv, but a little different story and more traditional cartooning. It was hard to find and can get expensive to get this copy, but worth the bargain shopping. If you hunt around you can get a copy for a more reasonable price, closer to the original release price. It's a good addition to our collection.Lire l'avis complet...

The best form of Star Wars

This is the first version of the Clone Wars cartoon and superior to the computer animated version. It has the animation done by the guys who made Samurai Jack. Full of excitement and cliffhangers like the Saturday matinee serials that Star Wars was based on. The dvds are well done.Lire l'avis complet...

Clone Wars Volume 2

The clone wars are in full swing and the jedi have their hands full as General Grievous enters the stage, wreaking havoc and kicking serious arse. If you've seen the first volume of this award-winning miniseries and liked it, you will continue to like the second volume.

The writing continues to be excellent, as does the animation. What's more is that several of the events occurring in this volume are integrated into Star Wars: Episode III. Ever wonder why Grievous can't stop coughing, or where Anakin got that scar on his face? These questions are answered on this dvd, so sit back and prepare to be amazed.
