Anthology on the Deep Space 9 character
This collection includes a short story about each of the lives experienced by the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine character Dax, a symbiote who lives inside a humanoid Trill (conveniently, for the actors). While the humanoid lives a "standard" lifespan, the symbiote is transferred at their carrier's death to another person, bringing memories and a certain amount of control. Each of these stories is thought-provoking; I never quite bought the character (no fault of the actors) but the stories bring more nuance to the theory of a long-lived sentient bug inside a willing carrier.Lire l'avis complet...

The Lives of Dax
Although I haven't really sat down and read this entire book, the idea of it sounds fascinating.
I'm a real fan of all the Star Trek franchises and Dax was one of my very favorite characters in DS9. I found the idea of part of us living on beyond our lives interesting. Whoever came up with the notion of a symbiont living inside us from lifetime to lifetime, with memories from all of them was a genius. Kind of like being reincarnated with all the memories of our past lives remaining intact.
I'm looking forward to really getting into this book. And, I appreciate eBay being a first-class source for unusual and hard-to-find books.Lire l'avis complet...

sci fi and me
i like the condition the book came in. i bought it because i'm a fan of star trek. i would eventually like to own every star trek book published even though not all the stories are always that good. i do like the book about dax quite a bit. a couple of the stories in the book could have been a little longer but pretty good none the less. i don't have much dislikes about the book.Lire l'avis complet...
