Changes up the Splatterhouse formula.. & i like it

Splatterhouse 3 is different than 1 & 2. Whereas the original were 2-d action platformers, 3 is more of a beat ‘em up with puzzle elements in where to go. Still maintains the satisfying cracks of the bat & hacks of the butcher knife.
Only downsides are When you use your rage mode, it doesnt seem to have much benefit, you hit a little harder but move slower. The timer is pretty harsh too.

Quite possibly the goriest game ever made.

What I like about this game series is that it is so taboo. This series started the horror game genre, and the third installment is no exception. I would have to say it is definitely the bloodiest game of the series. Most people have never heard of the series, and probably for good reason as it is not for the faint of stomach, but can relate to playing similar games such as Resident Evil or Silent Hill.
Your character is Rick Taylor, and your mansion as well as your wife, Jennifer, and son, David, are taken hostage. Hostage by whom, you ask? Just your average demons from hell bent on world domination. Creepy, eh? Your job is to save your wife and son, take back your mansion from the various monstrosities that infest it, and finally destroy the Evil One. Sound like an easy task? It's not.
The game controls are simple enough, but the game difficulty can be a bit severe, even on the easiest setting. But don't be discouraged. If you can get past the vile imagery and sheer grotesqueness of the enemies and surroundings that encompass you, you just might find a way to succeed. That being said, I honestly do enjoy the game. It is a great way to take out some pent up aggression. KAPOW!!

Enter the Splatterhouse; if you dare . . .

Splatterhouse 3 is still the best reason to own a Sega Genesis! Play as a young man named Rick as he desperately races against time in an attempt to rescue his family in this supernatural hack 'n slash game that takes place within the blood-soaked confines of a cursed mansion. If you though Mortal Kombat was violent; think again. Over the years, the Splatterhouse series has boastfully lived up to its title by earning its bloody reputation.
Do you have what it takes to explore the mansion and survive the denizens within?
Grab your 2X4, and find out!

Intense, gory, unique, & most disturbing Sega game EVER

You know just from the cover art of this game that you are going to be embarking on a very gory and disturbing gaming experience! This game was perhaps one of the first games to inspire government officials to embrace the ESRB rating system of the early 90s, giving this game a modest MA-13 rating. I was about 13 when this game came out, and I remember seeing the case on the shelves at our local video store. It was never in, there was always someone renting it! I did manage to go in one night and it was available, and I rented it against my mother's interest. I remember my friend's parents wouldn't let their kids rent it, not only because of the name, but because of the cover art. I played this game for a total of about 20-30 minutes before I couldn't take any more of it. At the time, the sound and graphics were too intense for me! I had never played such a frighteningly eerie game in my entire life! I was a LONG ways away from games like DJ Boy and Sonic the Hedgehog, and that's probably an understatement!

Due to the violent and gory nature of this game, this is definitely not for children! This is about as mature as Sega Genesis games get! Because of the degree of violence in this game, many people hang onto their copies as collectible items, and you will see the price of the game is in line with other hard to find Sega games. I suspect that many copies were thrown away by angry parents, too! If you enjoy a good brawler-type game with non-linear gameplay, this is a no brainer...just don't get this game if you have a weak stomach! This is a must have for any old school gamer!

Splatterhouse 3 for the Sega Genesis

The Splatterhouse series is by far my favorite game series for the Sega Genesis. Splatterhouse 3 features a chilling soundtrack, grusome, gore-ridden graphics, non-linear game play, and some great controls. The graphics are phenomenal; While making a zombie being punched in half look realistic, the 16-BIT graphics push the envelope just enough not to offend. In short, both Splatterhouse titles released for the Sega Genesis are near-perfect games that I absolutely recommend playing. These arcade-style beat em' up games were made to play alone, in a dark room, late at night, with only the moonlight, your waning sanity, and your old reliable Genesis to keep the quiet vigil with you. Go out and buy this game today!Lire l'avis complet...

Terror Mask: "You Need Me Rick."

A great entry in the classic Splatterhouse franchise. A gore and horror filled beat em up made by the same creators of Pac-Man. Show your support for this great but under appreciated series.

New twist on a great franchise.

The third game in the franchise is a great new edition. New gameplay mechanics compared to the last 2 installments. With a great sense of urgency and multiple endings the game is exciting as it is fun. Pick this one up while you can.Lire l'avis complet...

Must have for the Genesis.

Super gory and creepy with a great storyline to boot. One of the first cart games I had ever seen at the time to have nearly cinematic quality cutscenes.

Superb Graphics highlight the best in the series.
Also the gameplay is dead on and very responsive, the non linear play(can move to the front and back of the "board" not just left or right) is nice also as it adds depth. Parallax scrolling backgrounds tops it all off.

Play it in the dark, if you can,,,
The best Genesis game I played.

Perfection in 16 bit form

Well what can be said about this game that has not been said. One of the goriest games ever made. I often passed on this due to thinking its fame came only from its gore. I often never gave it a shot. Then I finally decided to play it. Quite simply it blew me away. Everyone talks gore, no one talks about its story and the emotions it brings. You want to rescue his wife in the beginning. You want to save Ricks son. If you don't it just angers you or at least me. I did not want to destroy the evil one, I wanted to annihilate him. SplatterHouse 3 has a solid story and it draws you in. Even with its fame it is a highly under rated beat em up with branching paths and fantastic cut scenes. Even at the ridiculous price people ask for, SplatterHouse 3 is still worth buying. Easily one of the best games the Genesis/MegaDrive has to offer.Lire l'avis complet...
