One of the best guest characters ever featured on Soul Calibur! Great game!

This game is a really fun classic Soul Calibur installment featuring Link from The Legend of Zelda series. That's it's main selling point and it worked on me! He's one of the most over-powered characters in the game and is a blast to play with. The Gamecube controllers leave a little to be desired for a fighting game, but I knew what I was getting into. I'm not reviewing the controllers anyway. The game is fun, goofy, and awesome just like I remember it. Great for fans of Soul Calibur and fighting games in general.Lire l'avis complet...

A true fighting masterpiece.

Of the three version of this game, I'd say just because of the controls. This is the definitive Soulcalibur Two to pick up. I own all three and I enjoy playing this one the most. Now for the Xbox Original I love playing as Spawn. But playing as Link the Hero of Time is still by far the coolest experience. As for the Gameplay, it is solid. There is a lot of content to grab in SC2. You will be fighting lots and lots of enemies. It never gets old. As for which is the best version of Soul Calibur, most likely SC3 for PS2. But, when it comes to controls and fast paced action, this is a wonderful title you could sink a lot of hours into. While the World burns, you could be mastering input commands on that beautiful artwork of a Gamecube controller. Feelsgoodman. :) 10/10Lire l'avis complet...

Amazing game so far

I bought this game becuase I have always loved the Soul Calibur series but have never owned it myself. Now having the chance to really play the game I am just as pleased. I like the fighting style of this game and the graphics are extremely good, even though this is an earlier version. The multitude of game modes is also a wonderful addition.

One thing I don't like is that in Soul Calibur II you can not customize your characters as freely as you are able to in later editions that I was more used to playing.

Overall though, I would recomend this game to anyone who likes hand-to-hand combat style fighting.

Still as good as I remember! Light scratches but they can be buffed out. One of many games that are great for game parties to bring people together. Happy to have a copy again

Soul Calibur 2Review

This game is amazingly put together, one cannot improve upon perfection. So, considering that 1999's Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast is widely considered to be a flawless fighting game, maybe that explains why Namco didn't take many risks with the sequel, which has finally hit the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube. If you played and enjoyed the original Soul Calibur, chances are good that you'll also enjoy the sequel since it's so much like the first game. That also means Soul Calibur II won't impress you as much as its predecessor, since you've seen most of these characters, their weapons, and their moves before, and the available gameplay modes are nothing out of the ordinary. Nevertheless, on its own terms, Soul Calibur II is by all means a great fighting game, and Namco has done a fine job of making each respective console version equally enticing.

Soul Calibur II is the long-awaited sequel to one of the all-time greatest fighting games.
For the majority of players, the most significant difference between Soul Calibur II and its predecessor will be cosmetic, though the visuals haven't been overhauled completely. The returning characters all look different and the stages are all new, but many of the animations (even for some of the new characters) are recycled from the previous game, as is the flow and feel of a typical match. As before, gameplay involves four buttons, corresponding to your character's horizontal slash, vertical slash, kick, and guard. Using various combinations of these and the directional pad, you can make your characters unleash dozens of different moves. A number of the characters even have alternate fighting stances, which they can readily switch between to vary up their attacks.

There's a two-tiered rock-paper-scissors system here that's more or less identical to the system that worked so well in Soul Calibur: Low attacks hit high-blocking opponents, mid attacks hit low-blocking opponents, and high attacks tend to beat out mid attacks. Additionally, vertical slashes tend to have priority over horizontal slashes but can be dodged laterally, while horizontal slashes can counter an opponent who's sidestepping too often. Add in guard impact moves, which all characters can use to deflect their foes' attacks, and soul charge moves, which all characters can use to power up their attacks, and you've got a deep, tried-and-true combat system. The gameplay has been tweaked since Soul Calibur, to account for some of the issues that highly experienced players of the previous game picked up on. However, most players won't really notice the different properties of crouching or of lateral movement or things like that. Of further note, the game controls well using the default PS2, Xbox, and GameCube controllers. The PS2 controller is best suited, and the GameCube's directional pad is a little small, but all of these are responsive and more than serviceable with the game.

All of the Soul Calibur cast returns either in form or in spirit. From the samurai Mitsurugi to the undead pirate Cervantes, from the nunchaku-wielding Maxi to the female ninja Taki, from the bizarre Voldo to the aptly named Nightmare, most all the old favorites are intact, each with a smattering of new moves. Some have changed more than others, but for the most part, tactics and combos that worked well in Soul Calibur still work well here. There are a number of new characters in the game, though aside from the exclusive character in each console version of

Soul Calibur II for the Gamecube

I purchased Soul Calibur II for the Gamecube because we didn't have very many Gamecube games and I wanted to fill out our collection a little bit. There was a lot of hype for Soul Calibur II back in the day and I thought I might want to pick it up, especially since it was sub-$20 now that it made Player's Choice. To be completely honest, my main draw to the game was that it had Link from the Legend of Zelda as featured fighter. I'm quite a large LOZ fan.

I remember playing the original Soul Blade for the Playstation. I played that game for hours and hours with my friends. I didn't mind that my favorite fighter, Taki, had a little shading around her nipples or a little bounce, but wow... have things changed. She and other female fighters now feature exaggerated, unrealistic 'uber-bounce' or what I like to call boober-bounce. I wouldn't normally care, but it's really in your face. As a gamer girl, that's really my only complaint.

If you liked the original, you'll like this one. Virtually nothing has changed. The graphics are beautiful and gameplay is smooth. Combos are awesome when you can pull them off. However, dialogue is retarded. I don't know who to blame, the writers, the voice actors or both. I bought the game a month ago and I've only played it for about two - three hours. It gets boring fast, but I'm not big of fighting games anymore anyway, so my opinion might not be worth too much.

Soul Calibur II, a multi-platform classic

What can I say about Soul Calibur II, it has amazing music, graphics still hold up, great game mechanics, and fantastic exclusive characters for this entry, actually it's the first in the series to do so, I remember holding local tournaments in my house for this game way back and they were an absolute blast, the gamecube version of this game will always be my favorite (Sorry Spawn fans) mainly due to Link, overall I give SCII for the GC an 9/10 pick it up if you can find a copy out there.Lire l'avis complet...

This is when the series peaked, a must have.

I like fighting games i grew up with, SC2 really is one of the best fighting games out there. The GCN version doesn’t have terrible load times, and the graphics are great, this style of graphics still do hold up to this day. I’m not a fan of the newer engine used since SCIV. Controls are straightforward and anyone can really pick up this game and have a good time. This is one of those fighting games, that a party of different skill levels and interest can play.Lire l'avis complet...

-This is one of my favorite One-on-One fighting games. You have many choices, ranging from Arcade Mode, a standard 8-fight brawl, to my mode of choice, Weapon Master Mode, a mode in which you travel to many different lands, acquiring weapons, defeating foes (sometimes under special condition) and making money.
Aside from the two previous modes, there is VS Battle, a mode where you can duke it out with your friends using your favorite characters, Time Attack, a mode where your battle time is recorded, Survival, a mode where you can find out how many foes you can K.O. before you are K.O.’d., Team Battle, a tag team mode where you have up to three characters on your team, VS Team Battle, a multiplayer team battle, and practice, a mode to sharpen your skills.
After buying them at the shop in weapon master mode, you obtain new weapons. You can buy many weapons for each character. How ever you can’t use them in the Original section. You must unlock the Extra Sections to use your extra weapons outside Weapon Master Mode.

I loved it

Although I do not own it. My friend has it and it has become my favorite fighting game. for one thing this is the only fighting game that I know about that allows you to move about in a 3d stage. as in other games only 4 direction you can go which is forward, back, up, down, but in soul cabilbur 2 you can also more right and left. another reason why this game is completely assum and is worth the $20 dollars you spend on it. is that has a hudge range of moves and is buy far the most accurate to reality game you can buy that I know of. also has really cool weapons and stuff. the single player verson I would only play to enhance multiplayer. it really isn't a story line game.Lire l'avis complet...
