A solid choice for those who don't want an ipod.

This mp3 player is of very good quality and I highly recommend this. I bought this as a gift for my mom. While testing it to make sure it worked, I was blown away by how quick and responsive this little gadget is. I have a different model Walkman for myself, and I love it, and I was not disappointed in the quality of this model. This player has good sound and is very easy to use. The build quality of the player is also very sturdy. One thing in particular I like about the Walkman is that you can customize the sound of it. They have built in mixers to help the listener tweak the sound to their liking.
One thing I don't care for is that out of the box, when you hook the player up to your computer, it automatically syncs EVERYTHING from your windows media library. This is a nice feature, but I turned it off, because there are some things that I don't want on my mp3 player such as various videos or pictures, certain songs, etc. Also, I had a problem once or twice with the player showing up with 2 copies of the same song. This was a little frustrating, but after tweaking in the settings I fixed this little problem. The E354 is a good unit that suits my purposes quite well

A couple of things keep me coming back to the E354. The E354's USB-MiniB allows me to charge from standard home, office and mobile sources I use with other equipment without having to lug around the special cable that the newer walkman's require. The battery recharges to a usable level in a very short time and full faster than other devices I've owned(A definite plus) The device also looks like a standard Thumb drive when attached to a computer, which means that I can add and delete music and audio books (it's major use) without special software. The unit is compact and fairly rugged but I've destroyed or travel lost several (I'm rather rough on mobile equipment). The ability to replace the device a reasonable cost is therefore very important. The separately purchased sony earbuds are sufficiently high fedility for my needs as compared to the cheapies. I've purchased high end earbuds for this unit and while slightly better audio quality, they break just as often as all the others (see rough on equipment). The product is good. You get your money worth out of it.

I bought this product because I wanted an mp3 player not an expensive Ipod. In that this product has met my expectation. The only thing I noticed is that they could have made the storage capacity of the player as close to 8GB as possible instead of barely 7GB it actually is. Secondly they could have made it last more than 31/2 days on a 3 hour charge like say 7 days worth on 3 hour charge. And I know they could make the video play more formats that just MP4 without needing to use the conversion program. I know they have this feature on other model, but just not the one I bought. Pretty good

Sony changed the access to the sleep timer which is many more clicks to completion than the old one. (More difficult to use) It also wastes a lot of space categorizing my music files, but that was the way my previous one functioned. (no better)
This one was purchased because my previous one just crapped out. Not my usual expectation of Sony quality.
Will this one be more reliable? Will this one have better battery life? Will there ever be any simple battery replacement available?
After all the negatives one might wonder why I got this unit. Basic function is simple, sound fidelity is outstanding and cost is far less than I-anything else. Despite the few limitations it is still a Sony.Lire l'avis complet...

Good product. Sturdy and efficient.

Perfect for the type of person who has a tendency to drop their media players. Not too expensive, great quality, easily portable and tough. The sorting of song is a bit odd, and I don't use a lot of the features, but definitely worth it if you want to listen to young songs and run around while doing so.Lire l'avis complet...

Sound is Good, we'll see if it Goes the Distance

I bought this player to replace a Polaroid player of equal value, but less gigabyes. It is easy to use and has an adequate FM radio After a couple of GB's added, CD'are starting to distort a little. I don't know if it's the fault of the player, or that I buy inexpensive CD's. Sometimes the buttons register something they are not supposed to and the unit powers on for no reason. Sony Walkman MP3 player- Excellent, tough, reliable!

I have several Sony Walkman NWZ-E344 which were all used , but proven to be excellent. The NWZ-354 is slightly larger in size and an even better performer. The sound quality is better than the E344, many more equalization choices. The interface is similar, but much more pleasant navigation graphics, and album art is shown full screen with play info overwritten. I can't belief the battery life could be better than the E344, but it is. The advertised 50 hr. battery life is accurate. Most of the used Walkmans that i bought were from people who 'upgraded' to Ipods. The Windows music file format used by the Walkman is much smaller in size than the Ipods. Great value and easy to navigate.

Purchased this to replace an aging and malfunctioning Sandisk player. The Sony is a tenfold improvement in quality and function. Great screen, easy to navigate menus and solid controls make this a pleasure to own. The sleep feature is nice and the sound is excellent. Have not found a negative yet. Much better value than Ipod units with similar features. my unit was a factory refurbished unit and arrived in perfect condition and has worked flawlessly. Good job Sony!Lire l'avis complet...

Good on the whole

I am having problems with the play back mode. I record talking books and I did have a problem that after each disc had been played it reverted back to the beggining of the disc I had just listened to. I did check the play back mode and it was on normal so I dont know what the problem is, i can only assume its the way the book I am listening to is set up.
Other than this problem everything iwith this MP3 is excellent
