Good basic lens for your sony not a high end lens, this was a replacement for a broken original lens, Be careful these are very easy to break .

Not bad!

If money is an issue, and you mainly shoot "snapshots" or need a pocket type of system for that easy to go to, the best camera I have is the that I have with me, then this is a good little lens. Folds into your axxx and will fit in a large pocket or a small side bag. RAW images need a lot more correction, where the JPEGS are corrected in camera. Great starter lens

This lens has a short tube length making the camera relatively compact without sacrificing lower f-stops.

There are better lenses, but not for the money.

You ask if it is durable - I've only had it a few weeks and so far it hasn't broken although I haven't hardly used it yet. It's too early to say if it's durable. Then you asked if the image is sharp - it's a kit lens and like all kit lens, it is not as sharp as a premium lens would be but it is acceptably sharp for my use at present. Inexpensive, small, comfortable to carry kit lens for the photo beginner

This is the kit lens I bought for my A6000 because I wanted a small vacation lens that was not heavy and intrusive, kind of "I dont really care" lens, i have a 18-105 f4 G,great lens but is big and much more expensive.
To my surprise the images that came out of this little lens where not half bad
Many reviews give it very low grade, but I think you have to take this lens for what it is and put it into context.
Is small, VERY small (great for walking around, vacation, going to the beach and not really care what you are carrying , has OSS (VR or IS for the Nikon and Canon users), has a range of 24mm to 75mm, in other words very practical.
Image quality is not great, but not terrible either, again vacations, walking around, casual image taking etc.
For the price I think is a good value.
Has a slow aperture, but every kit lens is slow f3.5-5.6
Focus is precise but not really fast
Color rendition and contrast is also average to weak, but if you use Light Room or even iPhoto software you can tweak contrast etc.
Is it as sharp as a the Touit Zeiss 32mm f1.8? Off course not, but the Touit is 600$ (more than the body A6000).
Overall I dont regret buying it, dont buy it if you are a professional photographer (duh), but the average to the advanced enthusiast will appreciate the commodity of this small practical kit lensLire l'avis complet...

Great for compactness, good for image quality, terribly fragile

If you have a Sony NEX camera, then this is a good choice. It's about the only zoom lens small enough to make your camera pocketable.

That said, image quality is ok, but not great. It's not a fast lens either.

Worst bit is the modern manufacturing "quality". I've had it open and it's only plastic and tiny screws. Even more plasticy than an Ixus integrated lens. So very plastic it could have come with a happy meal. The lens is extremely fragile. You're sure to bump the front zoom ring which is hardly sturdier than tin foil. Expect a lifetime of less than a year. But again, it's the only lens for compactness.Lire l'avis complet...

A great little camera with big potential!!

As just about the ONLY lens which comes with the "E" mount Sony cameras I think it does a great job. I wish it had been an f/2.8+ instead of the f/3.5+ zoom. With the "zoom" feature of the camera which could expand the tele portion of the lens it takes the place of a larger lens but still be able to be pocketable. It focuses quickly and with the 11frames per second can't miss a movement. At 24+mp it is able to further crop a picture if need beLire l'avis complet...
