Initial thoughts
I hooked this up to my TV and played an old family VHS that I had. It played well. The picture and sound were great. That is all I have done so far.
I bought it to convert my VHS to DVD. I haven't tried this yet. But I read the reviews of previous users who said it was easy to do.
I did not hook up the unit to our Cable TV. I have no desire to use it to record TV programs. I have no idea how easy or hard that would be to do with this unit. All I did was connect it to the TV monitor so I could view the audio/video quality. So far, so good.
I may follow up with another review after I have dubbed some VHS tales to DVD. I didn't want t give this 5 stars because I haven't tested all it's functions and capabilities yet. I gave it 3 stars because it worked well initially. Don't be afraid to try this machine.Lire l'avis complet

Pretty darn easy
I just wanted a simple way to convert our 20 or so family videos from the original VHS tapes on which they were recorded to DVDs. I read up on the doo-dads that you need certain computer operating systems and such with video editing software, blah, blah, blah. Who has time for that? Especially with my 40 or so hours of video!
I'm glad I got this machine. Read a couple of simple instructions, put in a blank DVD, put in the VHS tape, push the dub button, and walk away. Makes me very very happy!Lire l'avis complet

Great investment!
Had to replace my old DVD recorder (same model #) after converting literally thousands of VHS tapes. I buy both the VHS tapes and the blank DVD's at thrift shops and yard sales. Costs me about $1.00 to record 3 movies or concerts. Bought this one used and it is working fine. Easy process to title and finalize DVD's, so they're playable on any DVD player.
Hopefully, I won't need to, but would definitely purchase again!Lire l'avis complet

Great for converting/dubbing old VHS to DVD!
Great for converting/dubbing old VHS to DVD. Has an HDMI output so it will work with modern televisions. Auto corrects aspect ratio to 4:3

Best player I have owned other than a blu-ray player.
It is easy to use, both dvd and vhs players. It upgrades the image and quality of vhs tapes. I did not purchase unit for recording and it does an excellent job of playing both formats.

There was no remote included, however I had one from a similar model that works.
Sometimes the dvd side continues running instead of stopping after loading and formatting. The numbers keep rolling, and the only way to stop it is to unplug the recorder. Other than that, the recorder is pretty responsive.Lire l'avis complet
