Sony PEG-TH55

I have used many PDA's for the past five to seven years. My introduction to Clie's started with a job where using it was manditory. I have always had great experiences with clies and the PEG-TH55 much the same. The manual shutter/door on the camera lense does keep it free of debris. A neat change is the translucent cover, previous covers wear and fall apart, also it being clear helps to see whats noted when the alarm sounds. The only dislike I will note is the buttons, specifically the on/off & the rolling scrolling buttons. The on/off button is very hard to get a finger on and slide. The scrolling rolling button on the back seems to be a good idea on the onset however it does have a good enough grip to be effective. Thanks...Lire l'avis complet...

Still the best PDA especially user interface buttons

PDA, Unlike cellphone or smartphone made to communicate between the user and him/her self. since sony first show the th55 there was no other device even capable of holding software and operating it so smooth. the best user interface is the back mouse buttons (patented by Sony) and the stylus which is very easy to use as hand writing recognition. single button camera and recording completes the picture. I've had this device (and replaced it for overuse) 4 times since 2004.Lire l'avis complet...

This is the best PDA one can buy ... Guaranteed!!

I have owned many different PDA and none can touch functionality of Clie TH55 and it's ruggedness. This PDA has many features that the other ones don't. I also use this device as my sound recorder for meetings, etc. has a high quality sound recording capabilities that you would find on top of the line sound recorders. Battery life is the best one in the whole industry. You will barely ever charge this thing because it usess unique technology in saving battery life. I have droped this thing on asphalt before and I thought that was the end of my gadget, however when I picked it up it did not even had a scratch and everything is still working like new after years of hard work on some abuse. Another great feature it has a backup software for your memory stick and in case something happens you can restore your unit to the way it was. I back up mine every week came in very handy many times before. And you can't forget Decuma Latin handwriting input it's so much better then any other ones it's very fast and super accurate you write on it the way you would write on paper!

To sum it up I never had a gadget this solid, reliable and extremely functional. Too bad they don't make them outside Asia now. So looks like I'll be keeping mine for a while.

Sony Clie TH-55

Best Sony Clie of them all. Long battery life, 32 MB RAM, full-size 480 x 320, bright screen. Docs to Go runs dreamlike.

The TH55 was Sony's very last Clie marketed in the U.S. Unlike all the other models, Sony revised the built-in apps with additional capabilities. The new Memo pad has a 32K byte text buffer, the old OS4 apps only had 4K. The new Todo app has outliner-like hierarchical ordering capability. The FreeNote drawing program totally blows away the ClieMemo on the older Clies. Drag-n-drop photos and text fields into your notes. AddressBook and DateBook also updated, but I don't use those so much so I can't comment.

Only a few drawbacks. Camera is only .3 megapixel and does not come with Movie Recorder/Player as do the other camera-equipped Clies. The plastic flip cover is a little flimsy, must handle with care (get the InnoPocket aluminum carry case). The full-length screen means no physical keyboard, and the OS5 Graffiti 2 totally sucks, so input is practically restricted to pecking at the virtual keypad. The KB-100 portable keyboard is recommended for heavy-duty data input, or get a UX40 or UX50 with its outstanding keyboard, then beam the data over to the TH55.

Sony clie PEG-TH55

Good: Fast processor and high resolution screen gives beautiful a display. The wifi connects fast, and comes in handy when I need info away from home. The screen cover is nice to keep the screen clean and free of scratches, but gets in the way at times. It comes off, but takes so much pressure that you think it's going to break before it comes loose.

Bad: Location of buttons is terrible. The power button is almost imposible to slide, without using a fingernail. The 'back' button is on the back, so you hit it when trying to use the PDA in your hand. The 'capture' button for the camera should have an interlock. If you hit it accidently, it opens the clie camera application.

Good deal

I loved it at first glance but it was to difficult to use. My wi fi does not work as well. I use it now only for a camera and back up for my data. If your good with Gadgets, buy it but it's obsolete getting repairs and such so think twice before buying one. All in all, I wouldn't of bought it if I knew what I know now. Stck with Tungsten (their the best)Lire l'avis complet...

Bluetoothed at least twice better than bluetooth-less.

This is very rare Bluetooth-enabled TH-55 from Sony.
Rare European version, that is. 5 years before other similar looking products came to the market, it allowed any and all that can be expected from handheld.
You are very lucky if you have one like this and a knowledge what to do with it, such as SMS, mail and so on via mobile phone.
