The sound is great, the distance is good, the way you charge them is impressive (no contact needed for charging, is magnetic transmission of energy).. but the connectors included is just a RCA L/R cable with a headphone jack connector... no connection for a digital toslink audio out from sound system or TV (check if your TV has audio out or headphone jack... very important, not all TV has the audio out)
But beside that is great investment that will last you at least 10 years... my previous Sony headphone last me that long until now... that I decide to upgrade to this new model.
Great Headphones, not heavy at all, have a ergonomic shape for your ear, auto power off, and I love them.

Sound good enough to buy a second time

I had this model headphones and was totally happy with it until it went mono on me. Purchased a set from a brand name supplier and the bass was boosted so much and the high frequencies attenuated so much that the background, like car traffic, roared and to the hear the spoken words it needed the use of closed captioning. Returned after hassle. Reading other reviews i found others wished, like myself, that Sony hadn't discontinued this model. My original problem was in the headset, not the transmitter so i bought another headset knowing in advance it's sound was acceptable and i wouldn't run into poor sound again. Lire l'avis complet...

Comfortable headphone, Sound quality okay

These headphones are great, I like that they are comfortable and easy to recharge. Also, they only turn on when they are on your head so that helps with energy conserving. However, the sound quality could use improvement. I usually get small static while listening to music through my computer. I usually end up having to retune the headphones to another frequency. Very good, high quality headphones for the price!!

Excellent headphones! Great sound quality. I can now turn up my favorite music or TV to volumes to hear clearly without disturbing others in the house. The batteries last good and the cradle/stand is so easy to place headphones on for charging. There are no wires to connect or contacts to join for charging. Sony has provided a magnetic type contact on the stand where you just place headphones when not in use and they are recharged. The headphones turn on automatically when you place them on your head and cut off when you remove them, saving battery power. They are very light weight and comfortable to wear, and have volume control right on the ear piece. Very easy to connect to your stereo system, TV, or any device having sound or headphone output. They even come with a phono plug adapter for a larger size headphone connection. Comfortable High Quality Headphones you will love.

I have two of these type of Sony wireless headphones. One is the exact model(MDR-RF970RK), and the other is a slightly different model number, but almost identical in looks and functioning. These units are very nice. They are comfortable, have a good range, and wonderful sound quality. They are easy to set-up and use. The only thing I can say bad about them is the intial battery install. The battery compartment cover is a little tricky to take off and put on. Recommended for TV listening

I purchased the headphones to listen to TV at higher volume than is comfortable for my wife. I previously tried an IR set "TV Ears," that was a pita as it broke the IR link if I moved around or pushed back in my chair. The MDR-RF970RK wireless headset has no trouble connecting even when I get up and go to the fridge.

A plus is the charging base convenience. Just drop the phones onto the base and the red charging light comes on. No wiggling around to get a connection.

Two slight minuses: They are over-ear phones, so you may want to remove them after 2 hours and let your ears breathe. The max volume is not amplified as much as I expected, but comes accross just loud enough for my slight hearing loss. Recommended for TV listening.Lire l'avis complet...

It came with everything I needed, it worked great, and was a great price!

I had purchased a similar wireless headphones for my dad to watch television with several years ago, and the headset finally broke. So, he was looking for a new set. I originally pointed him to local big-box stores, but since he wanted a deal he ended up purchasing some high-priced other-brand from Amazon. He then promptly asked me for help connecting it. Well, for $70+ he got (in my opinion) JUNK! That set from Amazon required him to use batteries (no rechargables), and came with no connection cables, and worst of all, it had a black and a red wire hanging off it which the instructions said to connect to 12V...Say WHAT?? Who's got a 12V power supply just sitting around waiting to be "wired" to a device beside the TV??? I had dad figure out how to send his other headset back, and I purchased TWO Sony MDR-RF970RK units from eBay for about what he had paid for his one set. They work great! They each came with a charging base and rechargeable batteries (check!), power supplies (check!) and connection cables (check!). One really neat feature is that instead of an on/off switch (which if you forget to turn off can result in dead headphones), it has an integrated switch which turns the headphones on when you put them on your head! Also, with two units, both my parents can wear their own, have their own volume control, and walk through the house (or more likely to the kitchen) without missing a word, AND without having to blare the TV! Ok lets start out with the pros to this piece of equipment.

Pros: The headset is quite comfortable, not like most over the head styles that begin to hurt your ears after a short period of time, you can actually sleep with these on. Another pro is the charging system, the charging happened quickly. The last feature I really liked was the auto shut off feature, the inside comfort band auto fits to your head and acts as an off switch. When the headband is not stretched at all the headphones realize they arent being used and they turn them selves off to save power.

Now onward to the cons.

Cons: These headphones are very touchy, you get a constant hiss noise sometimes the volume spikes a loud pop in your ear which may sound somewhat like a concussion grenade. The battery life is very poor with the supplied nickel hydride battery but if you use AAA batteries of your own it works much better(i recommend the rechargeables). They claim to be noise canceling which is about all but a blatant lie.

So obviously the cons outweigh the pros, even though the price i got them for was a very good price as sony sells them for about $100 as i am writing this. I would have much rather coughed up the additional cash and got a decent pair as the sound quality, battery life, and all around usability of these are very poor.

I would not a.) buy this product again, b.) recommend it to others, or c.) buy this as a gift for anyone. In fact I sort of feel like writing Sony a letter about selling junky 3rd rate electronics.Lire l'avis complet...

Great Product

My husband watches tv in bed til late in the night, and I am getting much more sleep now that he has these headphones. He says they are comfortable and sound good - and he has significant hearing loss, so that's saying something. The set we got must have a "loose connection" or something, because he has to wiggle/shake or smack the battery side every now and then to get the set to come on when he takes it from the cradle. It doesn't affect how they work afterwards, and he is not keen on returning them for an exchange, so it must not be bothersome.

They sound quality is good. They are comfortable and easy to use. Always charged and ready to go. Overall I am satisfied with these wireless headphones. I would not pay the retail price but if you can get them for under $50 then you really can't complain.
