Good for its time

I got this camera solely to use as a player to use with a USB capture adapter to digitize old Video 8 videos from the 1990's. It worked fine for that, but it also still does a decent job with analog video recording. Better than not at all

Operated only one day.touch panel does not function.error message c 22.Sometimes will play after a couple of smacks.Will only eject tape after many attempts.I use my old camera to rewind.Camera and accessories arrived well packed and good appearance. Purchased to view old tapes. it is frustrating,Hope the “smacking” gets the job done . To play must press pause. Nuff said. Product doesn't live up to the description

I received this item today and was excited to finally have
a way to view old 8mm and hi8 tapes. Unfortunately, the hi8 tapes don't play on this model and the description of this camcorder was very misleading, (was noted to have a large viewing screen, so there would be no need to be connect to a monitor...but there is no screen)! It also does not turn off,so the battery needs to be removed.The wrong wire was included so it could not be connected to a tv monitor - luckily, I had the right one. It was described to be the perfect model for transferring your 8mm and Hi8 tapes, but I cannot figure out how, since there is no way to connect it to my computer or a dvd burner! I was looking for a replacement for a broken Sony camcorder, and feel very disappointed in this purchase since I still cannot transfer my tapes.
I am returning it as it doesn't meet my expectations.Lire l'avis complet...

Camcorder critique

Had to order a new battery. No big deal. Old one wouldn't take a charge, which is normal. Looking to download tapes into my computer with pinnacle movie studio program. We'll see!

This model is NOT a Hi8 recorder Item description is not true

Sony Hi8 tapes are not the same as standard 8mm. The Sony camcorders which use Hi8 are clearly marked as such. This model does not bear the special Hi8 markings. The reviewer who claims to have bought/repaired/sold 50+ of these must not be referring to this particular model. The tapes in the photo are not Hi8 and the manual indicating the model number clearly is not a Hi8 model manual.Lire l'avis complet...

Good quality, small things not working properly

The view back controls are messed up. I can’t watch back any tapes unless I hold down buttons.
