Small size, AF, OSS & 105-525mm.
This lens becomes a 105-525mm lens on a A7R III Sony camera when the APS-C / super 35mm option is turned on in the menu. It remains a f/4-6.3 lens and with the 42 megapixel sensor reduced still has lots of megapixels left to give great quality photos. The smaller size, AF and OSS add to the value of this lens. I would not recommend using with a lower megapixel camera like the a9 with 24 megapixels as it would reduce it well below 20 megapixels. It certainly could be used with the a9 but be aware of the reduction in megapixels. The build quality is the same as other "G" Sony lenses and it's filter size is 67mm. The Sony cameras with the ASP-C/super 35 mm option make this lens, in my opinion, a real bargain.Lire l'avis complet...

great, but definitely for long range
I bought this to complete my set of lenses and it is magnificent at what it does, but it is definitely a long range lens even at the lowest 70 mm setting (105mm with APC-S). Based on what I've shot in the last 2 months, I find I go back to my next lower lens more often because i want more background/landscape. I think it will be great for birds and wildlife around 20-100 yards away when i have more opportunities. I don't think i will personally use this enough now, but good to have when i need it. Not sharp enough
I dunno, maybe I got a bad copy or expect too much, but this lens is not sharp enough for the price. I use sony a6000 for the wildlife (mostly bird) photography and wanted an upgrade from my sony 55-210mm lens. The images are pretty good without cropping or zooming in, but as soon as you wanna crop you see that the quality isn't that good. Also the AF is ridiculously slow at 350mm and you cannot shoot birds in flight.
I'm quite upset actually. Expected better for this price. It's just a little bit better than 55-210mm lens, for the 5x higher price. Lire l'avis complet...

Such a great telephoto
Should have gotten this along time ago. When it comes to telephoto, you don’t want to skimp. This lens is exceptional in every way, sharpness, bokeh, smoothness, low distortion, onboard stabilizer, MF-AF switch. Can't go wrong

Outstanding Sony FE 70-300 zoom lens
Basically 100% satisfied. The lens performs exactly as expected. Condition was like new. This is a superb lens. I use it for nature photography, so there is always plenty of light.

Good Long Lens!
This is a quite good "prosumer" lense. It has a long zoom range at good quality, though a slightly slower long end than I'd like, but it's only like 1/3 stop less than a f/5.6 so not too bad.

Well made compact zoom
Built with the same quality and handling as Sony's full frame lenses but much more portable than my 100-400 Gmaster. Sacrificing very little considering, especially with the XD linear motor on board.
