Loud but works well

It is a very high quality DVD player. It has many features and the picture is very clear.
I just wish it wasn't so loud as the DVD is spinning. I use this in an upstairs bedroom I call my War Room. Across from this room is my daughter and grand son's bedroom. I'm unable to have the volume up loud enough to drown out the loud spinning. Headphones do help though. All in all it was a good buy. Lire l'avis complet...

Best bargain for a portable DVD player

I have two: one for my daughter (pink) and one that I use to monitor video shoots. The picture quality is very good - it has one of the best resolutions in its class. The double remote sensor was genius especially due to the swivel function of the screen that allows a variety of viewing angles.
The sound quality is very good and the volume is very good. Two headphone jacks are a plus - I was able to use the DVD player with a student of mine to help him practice listening while I monitored the movie we used as content (I'm an ESL instructor by trade).
The only drawback is the input. There is only a 1/4" phone jack input that must use a cable that is wired correctly if one wants to use the component output of an HD camcorder (I use the Canon HV-30). Expect to be creative in your wiring options. Luckily for me, my camcorder has an output that I use with the Canon stock A/V cable and some parts from my local retail electronics chain-store. My recommendation for portable DVD player

The picture quality is wonderful, bright, crisp but not harsh.
The screen is very flexible and can be viewed at any angle and also like a folded book.
It is a little on the heavy side because of the battery.
The battery life is probably around 8 hrs depending on the level of brightness used.
The feature that clinched the deal for me was a hold switch that would let my 1.5 yr olds fiddle with the buttons on the palyer but not affect the display. But unfortunately the big round eject button on the most accessible corner was not protected by the hold switch. So we had to tape this one to protect from the kids.

Sony 8" DVD player

I bought it for my children when we were planning to take an 8 hour drive to Key West and wanted them to keep quiet in the back seat. I liked this item because it's a Sony. It has the best display (800 x 480) in its category. The sound is awesome. You can connect two headphones to it and can also tilt the screen in various directions. The battery lasts 6 hours (3 complete DVD movies) and charges in about 1 hour. You can play games, other MP3s etc on it. Because it's a Sony, quality is assured. It does not come with a bag but you can buy one at Walmart for 14 dollars. It has worked very well so far and the price on ebay was one I could not pass. Highly recommended.Lire l'avis complet...

Sony DVD player

Awesome DVD player - crispy clear voice and picture. Thumps up - much better quality than my two Panasonics. Great little player to watch your favorite movies on the go. Worth every penny.

Awesome player

Like many others, I did way too much research on buying a portable dvd player before finally buying this one. Sony was the king of cd players back when they first came out and, in my opinion, they are kings of the portable dvd players as well. Had a nice Phillips portable 7" player that lasted about 2 years then finally gave out. The 8" screen on this one is awesome! The best thing about this player is the quality of the picture--absolutely the best out there. If you read enough reviews about this particular player, you will come across people downgrading it for its sound and for it playing movies in a widescreen format with the little black bars on the top and bottom. Relax, the sound is just fine and most movies fill the screen just like they're supposed to do.

dvp vs dvd ac vs dc

Haven't actually used it yet. I also have the dvd-fx820 which works really well. used primarily to view mini-discs from my sony camcorder. a regular dvd player is not built to handle the smaller disc. Now I have ordered an adapter cord (ac) to be able to use the dvp player just like the dvd player. I will give the dvd player to my son who also has a sony camcorder. Neat.Lire l'avis complet...

Very good picture, great batt life. Great player!

This is my first portable DVD player and I am very pleased. Have not extensively tested battery life yet, but used the player on a plane for at least 2 hours and battery indicator still showed full. Screen swivel feature is very nice, especially for viewing on lap or airplane tray tables. The screen resolution is higher than most and the difference is striking. Compared a similar model Sony with the same screen size and resolution to several other players at Best Buy and it really stood out. I was concerned about the screen being too small but the 8" seems to strike a good balance between good close-up viewing and portability. Plays both full screen and wide aspect movies very clearly. Remote control is excellent and the TV output is very clear. Used with a cheap, standard aspect hotel TV and my 50" Sony DLP wide screen. Results on both were very good. This is a great player. It would have been nice to have a backlight on the control buttons and the four way button for navigating menus is a little tricky, but these are very minor problems.Lire l'avis complet...
