Awesome camera!

I am a semi-semi-professional photographer, but mostly an enthusiast. I bought this camera so I would have a small, albeit high-quality, "pocket camera" for carrying around with me when traveling, etc. Sometimes carrying my Nikon DSLR is a little more than I would like to do (for example on the beach, hiking, or at family gatherings). I was very satisfied with the Sony's performance! The image quality is great, and even at ISO 400 the image quality is good. I find that I prefer the images when I adjust the saturation and sharpness to their highest values on the in-camera menu (which it remembers your settings, so you don't have to set them every time). I mostly use it in program mode, and it does an awesome job on calculating exposure, as good as my DSLR. The auto-white balance works great! Better than my Nikon DSLR.

I have used many compact "point-and-shoot" digital cameras before. Most of them boasted high mega-pixels counts, and also cost a lot more. However, when more pixels are crowded onto such a small sensor, the image quality is degraded, and you can effectively cut your maximum image size in half.

If you are in the market looking for a small, high-quality camera, don't be pulled in by the "mega-pixel wars," and simply by this Sony for approx. $20 and you'll have a great little camera!

A little tip, however, is that if you are a MAC user, open the JPEG images in Preview and go to "Adjust Color" under the "Tools" menu. Increase the saturation a bit to enhance skin tones, and adjust the levels and sharpness etc. to your taste. This takes only about a minute or so for each photo. If you do not use a MAC then there is probably a way to do a similar procedure on a Windows machine.Lire l'avis complet...
