A great little camera

This is actually my second camera of this type. I purchased it because the extra lens are difficult to find. Although I also have a DSLR, sometimes it is preferable to have a light but sturdy pocket camera. What I particularly like about this camera are the Carl Zeiss optics. Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P100 5.1 Megapixel - A Great camera

I purchased one of these Sony Cybershots many years ago for a friend and we loved it so much that I've had several other friends and relatives buy the same model of camera. Compared to today's cameras, 5.1 megapixels is not a lot of definition, but I feel that if you need more than 5, you should invest in a professional Digital SLR, not a consumer point-and-shoot camera. This camera is extremely reliable. The only problem I've had with one was a direct result of dropping it from a standing height onto cobblestones directly on its lens. Not too many cameras will take that abuse.

As far as photographing, this camera does a great job. There are a variety of options that you can use. These are easy to adjust. In addition to the normal fully-automatic mode, I use the macro (close-up) setting and the low light level with no flash setting. These pictures turn out well, just be sure to hold the camera perfectly still. I also use my camera to take panoramic pictures, overlapping the shots so that a pano software package can match the edges up easily once I get to a computer. Of all the software I've tried, I like Autopano Giga 2 the best. I'm sorry that this program is out of most peoples' price range, but the Sony camera records all of the camera settings on the picture file, and this software does the best job of adjusting the photos to match them up right.

The three drawbacks that I see are 1: you cannot use this as a webcam by hooking it up through the USB cable. 2: The LCD screen is recessed, but still exposed, increasing the chances of damage versus a screen with a hard plastic cover. And 3: the lenses tend to get a little dust on the inside that causes a dark shadow on photos when zoomed in all the way.

I highly recommend this camera, and when I drop this one and break it, I'm going to go look for another Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P100.Lire l'avis complet...

Good product, could be better.

I love the little camera, but it only uses a weird memory card that is hard to find and very expensive. It does take great pictures and is easy to operate. The memory card is not easily moved from the camera to the computer dock. I don't know if they make a adapter for it. But that is just more money to spend and the card only holds about 110 pictures.Lire l'avis complet...

My Go To Camera

A good general purpose camera . I'm not a photographer , so I needed something easy for a Joe Shmo (Me) to use . Not a great deal of zoom if that's important to you.

ok,is not what i did spected and what i see on picture;i wouldn't sell something like this on Ebay.flash doesn't work ,open one side,strap cord dirty,a bunch of old memory cadrs i tough it was i single 1gb card,but i still like it i can use as a charger and daytime camera,i like the extra battery wich is original sony.but is ok i'll be more careful on my next purchase.Lire l'avis complet...

Great for the purpose of underwater videos and photos.
