Superb starter camera from a quality manufacturer.

I bought this product as my first DSLR. I went for sony as it is a quality brand and can connect via the bravia feature to my TV. This gives me another way of showing pictures through various media. Using the camera itself is very simple and there are loads of extra gadgets and gizmo's available to assist you with pictures. For example I got a wireless shutter remote which is great for taking pictures of both of us without someone having to run back and forward with the timing option.
There are many options for general setups for different types of shots you may take, from landscape to nighttime etc. I've had this camera for over a month now and my advice is to use it as much as possible and experiment with all the different options so you can learn to make best use of it. For me there is nothing to dislike about the camera.
