Great album but not edited

Very good album. Although I purchased the "clean" version there a few bad words on the last two tracks. Such a shame, because they were so unnecessary. I removed one star for that sole reason.

Do NOT let the goofy cover art fool you!!! This is a really solid album from Katy. I have been a fan since around 2010, and I always bought all of her albums and really thoroughly enjoyed them. I did enjoy 2017's "Witness" album, but only a handful of the songs. There is quite a few skips for me on Witness, so I was definitely hesitant to buy "Smile."

The cover didn't make me feel too confident in it either (unlike how I felt when I saw Prism's beautiful cover in 2013.) I personally am not into clowns, it made me feel like I was going to hear a mostly sad or silly album. I was definitely wrong!

Going into it, the only single I had heard from it was "Never Really Over." While it is a good song, I never liked the message because it sounded like she just didn't want to let her ex go. Thankfully, the rest of the album has GREAT messages!!

My new favorite would have to be "Cry About It Later," it's such a positive feel here, and she is telling you to not let bad and negative emotions bother you. "Cry About It Later" and just be happy and have fun in the now. "Teary Eyes" is awesome, and has an 80s-esque vibe to it. "Not The End Of The World" and "Smile" are two more standouts for me. I WISH these songs were made around 2012 when I was a depressed teenager. These songs really would have given me so much hope back then. These songs will definitely put you in a happy, positive mood whenever you listen to them.

The rest of the songs are pretty good as well, but those are the standouts for me. I WISH she did not do the silly clown art on it. I don't think it represents the album well. Usually her covers (I think) do a good representation of the mood of the album...but the clown ordeal here doesn't match this album, in my opinion. DO give it a listen. You will be glad you did! Katy Forever!!

Great album but will take multiple listens. Katy winning formula, short album and plenty of pop hits. Beautiful!!👍👍👍👍
