Outstanding bang for the buck
Sliders is filed with action, tongue in cheek humor and some occasional social commentary. The characters are very engaging. Even though it's a sci-fi series, it's very character focused. The visual effects hold up surprisingly well for a series produced on a modest budget over 20 years ago.
This a Mill Creek release. They specialize in repackaged, budget friendly releases of movies and TV shows, This is where I dock it one star. There are more episodes per disc than the original studio releases, meaning a reduced bit rate which yields a softer image. The picture quality is acceptable. I have watched the whole first season and there were no bonus features. There may be some yet. I'll see as I move through the whole series. The disc menus are bare bones.
I like the packaging. It's a slipcover with 8 cardboard sleeves holding two discs each. The sleeves are tight fitting, so the discs won't fall out when you pull out a sleeve. The whole series only takes up 1 inch of shelf space.
I never missed an episode of this when it originally aired, and I'm happy to say I'm enjoying it as much, if not more, than I did back then. It holds up well.
If you are willing to put up with slightly reduced image quality in a bare bones package, you will get many hours of great entertainment at an incredibly low price.Lire l'avis complet...

Sliders is travelling to an alternative Earth planet portal and some time travel involved
Sliders is a term for the way Quinn Mallory has found a way to open a travelling portal to alternative same planet Earth but in different times and ways of the home planet he starts from. The 1st season wasn't very engaging even with the actors doing the best they can to support the stories. The 2nd season gets better with more stories that you want to follow their journey. As the seasons continue, some of the stories are excellently written. I haven't finished the entire series yet but these stories can be quite dark tales. They were ahead of their time and Jerry O'Connell states that "SLIDERS" found a home on dvd and cable networks. Unlike "Quantum Leap" these stories hop around so you don't know how the next show will begin. The soundtrack isn't one that you would remember for this type of show. Love this kind of show - all episodes of 5 seasons. Looks & sounds great.
Watched the pilot only yet but looks & sounds great. I probably saw most of these at the time but forget it all now lol, which is an advantage getting these. Going to be a fun time watching them. Just satisfied with the same great SFX of that TV series of a show.
The DVD works perfectly in Blu-ray Drive.
Problem is: It is the same old resolution of 20 years ago as of CRT full screen presentation(no wide-screen renditions; not being re-mastered for today's TVs).

Parallel universes
The story is fun and entertaining.
The characters are belivable exept for "Rembrant Brown" who is too stupid
for his own good.(The funny Sidekick I guess)
A teebage student with too much freetime and ego, finds a way to travel between universes but only comes to Earth at the same time. Earths that are very diffrent each time
One Earth were the Commies won the Cold war, Aliens invaders, The teenagwe student also finns his alteregos from some of the Earths have done the same as he and travels aso between Worlds.
All in all the series is good fun and well done in the specialeffects. Absolutly
Worth to get if your a Sci-Fi nerd like me. And yes the DVDs work in most eu Tv-sets or DVD which are regionfree....!Lire l'avis complet...

Dimensionally Speaking
The cool thing about a collection is that stories build and change" dimensionally", speaking. I guess I just "slid" into that. .Oh wait ,I think I hear the timer going off. Nah it was just a squeaky gate. No sense bein' a "Cryin' Man" over this. Probably this is all similar yet different from what other people have said but if you Wade into the subject too deeply you'll need a "professor" to solve the "Quinntum" physics. Great TV series (all on DVD) at a GREAT PRICE!
I always thought 'Sliders' was one of the best science-fiction-type series ever put on TV. Not requiring starships or other super-high-technology hypothetical inventions to get the characters into astounding & alien worlds, the 'Sliders' concept of a device that enabled people to 'slide' between different parallel-worlds-versions of the Earth enabled the writers to dream up adventures without needing any kind of space travel. Your brand-new DVDs of 'Sliders' play perfectly & the cost for the 15-DVD collection of the 5-year TV series was very reasonable.Lire l'avis complet...

Great Series...Good Price
Really love this series! It is so much fun watching Quinn and the other's not only find different "parallel" earths, but, to better understand the science of "sliding" as the are doing it.
