Good, but not exactly there.
Skate is a great game with an awesome gaming experience and game story line. It is definitely a step up from games like "Tony Hawk's Underground" but it is still not great.
When I first picked up Skate I was very impressed with its graphics and game play; But now that I have play for a wile there are some set backs.
1. It does not allow the player to get off the board.
2. The camera view cannot be changed, this makes riding harder.

Very satisfied with my purchase I bought this game for my son and he enjoys it very much now he has the complete collection skate 1-3 . Very satisfied will buy more titles in the future.

A Skater's Dream
Presentation- The story isn't very engaging, but it's a good thing because everything is relaxed, full of spirit, and funny. This game actually feels like a living skating community.
Graphics- Details are amazing, but occasionally framerate issues and blurring can be a problem, but it's still great graphics.
Sound- Good sound track, nice commentary, and the skating sounds just like it does in real life.
Gameplay- Lots of new things to do and many awesome skating tricks. It's only missing a few flatland tricks and the challenge to maunal or grind correctly.
Lasting Appeal- Story is short and can be completed quickly, but in general the game isn't really about objectives, its about skating, and if you love to skate, then you will keep coming back to this game.
Overall- This is an excellent skating game with great graphics, gameplay, sound, and flow. I really reccomend it to you.Lire l'avis complet...
EA Skate
This game was a huge risk on the part of EA. They came into the game where the Tony Hawk series was the only real skating game. The Tony Hawk's were really good games. But it wasn't real. Flying through the air 100 feet high and pulling off 3 900's in a row. Fun? Yes! Real skating? No!
This is where skate comes in. This game is simply stunning. The graphics are amazing. The music is awesome and the control scheme is brilliant. You asically use the two thumb sticks for everything. You use one button to kick/push and to talk to people. This takes some getting use to but once you get the hang of it you never want to go back to the old standard of skating controls. There are a few flaws but they are few and far between. My biggest complaint is the view. The camera is low and behind you. Which you can't change. Sometimes when attempting a trick you get in the way of your own view. Don't get me wrong. This game is near perfect. It totally kicks all the Tony Hawk games out of the water. To put the two games in the same category is ridiculous. These two games are nothing alike. The only similarity is that it involves skating. The basic's of the game are to learn tricks and find skate spots and conquer them. Also to find skaters and due different objectives for/with them. You can also just free skate if you want. You slowly earn money(which can be spent on clothes and boards and accessories). This game is amazing. I can't say enough about it. Be careful though because once you play this, you might sell all your "other" skating games. Some people will hate this game. And by some people I mean "Tony Hawk's for Life" the biased crowd that don't give other things a chance because they are hardcore fans. Skate 1 is great, 2 is better...
What kills Skate 1 is the fact that you can't walk around, only skate....stairs are you enemy...and with walking comes jumping, so those things really make Skate2 much more enjoyable. When you upload videos to EA website, Skate1 space and server speed has been really bad, looks like they want to shut that down soon and are "weaning" things out...but Skate1 is good to start and practice, you will be a pro when you get the benefits of 2.

skate. is a lot of fun
I enjoy this game a lot. I've been playing the Tony Hawk games since 2, and they've grown a little stale. This game takes the skateboarding genre in a new direction. It's much more realistic (there are no 1080 triple kickflips off a 2 foot ramp in this game) game for one thing. The new controls add greatly to this, as well as the experience as a whole. Also the city and the levels are great. It feels like you're cruising around an actual city, not some video game level.
The only drawbacks are the lack of some of the big names the Tony Hawk games have, though that doesn't really matter from a fun/gameplay perspective. Also this game can be a bit hard and has a learning curve to the controls, though I feel this is worth it as adds to the realism and and satisfaction you get when playing.
In closing, if skateboarding (in real life or in a game) is your thing, you should probably pick this up, you will enjoy it. To everyone else though this might not have as broad of an appeal as some of the Tony Hawk games. You should probably try one of those, and if you get into that give this a try.Lire l'avis complet...
