Return to Silent Hill for yet another nightmare...

I had rented this game when it originally came out on PS2 and had to own it. Having played all previous Silent Hills, I immediately felt right at home. You play Travis Grady, a lonely trucker with a troubled past. Explore the town of Silent Hill and solve puzzles as you try to survive. Pick up a wide variety of melee weapons ranging from screwdrivers, sledgehammers, toasters, batons, meat hooks, and even katanas! There are also various firearms, but I won't spoil it for you. New monsters are everywhere to keep you running for your life. The graphics are what you would expect from the series: thick fog covers the streets, roads end out of nowhere, darkness consumes hallways, etc,. One of the best features of this game would have to be the soundtrack. The music is eerie and haunting throughout and will make you panic often. There are three possible endings including the famous U.F.O. ending. Unlock new costumes and weapons by completing the new accolades mode. Overall, this is an excellent survival horror game. Anyone wanting a good scare should definitely check it out.Lire l'avis complet...

Silent Hill: Origins Player Review

Granted I haven't finished it yet, but from what I've seen so far, die hard Silent Hill fans will be impressed with the newest installment of the critically acclaimed series.

Travis Grady, an honest truck driver, finds himself drawn into Silent Hill (which tends to have a bad habit of collecting people). After rescuing a badly injured girl from a burning house, he must battle his own personal demons while he strives to figure out just what the heck is going on in the town. There are new monsters to fight, new weapons and new puzzles. In Origins, there is an added challenge of melee weapons having a 'durability limit.' In short, if you use hand-to-hand weapons long enough, they'll break. I found this to be a great addition to the system, if a bit vexing at times. This means you've got to choose when to use a weapon and when to use your fists. This new 'strategy' element made it even more entertaining to me.

Also added is the ability to use every day objects such as toasters, typewriters and even portable TV sets as weapons. It was a wonderful twist that actually made me giggle the first time I made use of it.

I've also heard about the ability to barricade doors to stave off monsters, but I don't think I've progressed to that stage of the game yet as I have yet to experience it.

There're still a lot of 'What the heck was that?!' to this game, as new surprises leap out from behind every corner. I, personally, adore wondering what's lurking out in the fog, waiting to bite my head off.

By the way, in case you're wondering, the nurses ARE still in the game, and prominently features in Alchemilla Hospital.

For you Red Pyramid Head fans (myself included), there's a creature referred to as 'The Butcher' that is very close to RPH, and looks to be an extremely imposing foe. To be honest, I am NOT eager to go toe-to-toe with this guy. He's got a cleaver that is just as impressive as RPH's Great Knife. However, RPH will always be a favorite in my eyes. <3

It's definitely worth the buy, but the graphics are a little low grade on the PS2 system because this game was originally created for the handheld PSP system. It does NOT impact gameplay at ALL.

Here are some free tips:

- Always turn off your flashlight before entering a new room. If they can't see you right off the bat, you have the advantage.

- There is nothing dishonorable about sneaking up behind something and bashing it over the head. Trust me. It saves a lot of bother.

- Use the on-screen weapon switch feature as much as possible when using firearms. When a creature falls, quickly switch to your fists and kick it. It'll save you one bullet, which adds up over time. Firearms are very handy for stronger enemies.

- Divide and conquer!

- When running about town, do exactly that. RUN! Don't bother with trying to kill everything you come across. Sometimes you can ditch them if you're quick and dart out of their line of sight. Be sure to collect goodies whenever possible.

Have fun!

I can't wait to finish this game!

Ok

Standards r set pretty high when it comes to Silent Hill. It was an ok game. I'm trying to conquer all of them and this one has been by far the most poorly graphic game. It's so dark, u can't even know tell where your going. The bosses r really easy. Definitely a one time play. U need to look at a walkthrough if u want to beat it. But the game is hard, and challenging, puzzles I looked at a walkthrough, and it's definitely edge of your seat and will probably piss u off. But you'll be glad when u beat it.Lire l'avis complet...

I love the Silent Hill games. Always do a good job. This one is a bit dark and hard to get around w out a walkthrough. But still awesome.

One of my two favorite SH games. Highly recommended if you consider yourself to be a Silent Hill fan.

I have already played this game through twice on the PSP, which is the system it originally came out on, so i already know what to expect. I actually haven't played this game on this disc yet but as long as it is in good condition, i am going to love it. THE SCARIEST SILENT HILL GAME. Lire l'avis complet...

Silent Hill Origins

Not the best in the series but it's kind of hard when you have Silent Hill 2 & 3. Still an absolute amazing game!!!

silent hill origins rocks!!!!!!!

THIS GAME STARTS OFF BEFORE THE EVENTS OF SH1, AND EXPLAINS A WHOLE LOT OF QUESTIONS THAT SH1 STARTED. Goes back to everything we loved about the original 3 sh titles. And everything different about it from the others does not take away from it.
In fact it's quite interesting. You'll see a lot of people from sh1,familier buildings and levels, as well as some of the most annoying enemies in the series. THIS IS NOTHING LIKE THE TERRIBLE SH4!!! THIS IS THE SILENT HILL GAME YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!

P.S. DON"T PLAY THIS GAME AT NIGHT WITH THE LIGHTS OFF. UNLESS YOU WANT TO WET YOUR PANTS IN FEAR!

Good but not Great

Unlike the first Silent hill games, which were created by the team silent this game is not very scary and the atmosphere is pretty bland, monster designs are mediocre. Many plot holes, music is great though.
I recommend if you are new to the series buy Silent hill 2 or the original. Those are far superior compared to origins.
Origins was too easy, most bosses took about 2 clips to be killed. The atmosphere doesn't give a Silent hill feeling.
I still recommend the game but most reviews of this game on ebay just praise it, but to call it the most scariest of the series is preposterous.

Silent Hill Origins is by far the best and scariest in the series.

My children and I enjoy watching horror movies, scary but not gorie, and haave gotten hooked on the games. It's really fun to play, it feels like you are, the main character. You have to walk thru frightening places, and even scarier monsters while trying to find clues, and solve the riddle to get to the next place in the game.I even got their dad helping us in the game and my nephew says that he's also hooked on it.
We've been playing all the other Silent Hill games, and this one seems scarier than the others. We just boght the next Silent Hill game to play during the summer.
