Leaves much to be desired

I had been anticipating this game for months, and after the release date slippage and shoddy-looking animation on the preview videos, I became somewhat skeptical. Then I read a review on another site suggesting that the play control was actually excellent, so I went and bought the game tonight after all. And oh, how I wish I had that $30 back. The play control is somehow worse than Wii Boxing, especially with the left hand. Whereas Wii Boxing would have inconsistent punch control, this has pathetic dodge control, horribly inconsistent punch control (even though I'm a right hander, I *never* had the problems executing left-handed punched in Wii Boxing like I did here), and the movement sometimes just doesn't know when to quit. I can't count how many times I tried dodging using the appointed gesture (which is the same as Wii Boxing), only to be left flat-footed. My boxer's left hand seemed unable to throw a punch, and my boxer would somehow insist on retreating (and you can't throw punches while you're moving), so I'd often be left for a punching bag. And the load times between screens are simply abysmal. When you knock an opponent down, it actually takes a second or two to bring up the shot of the referee counting (always either a 7-count or a 10-count, nothing in between)! And then, it takes another second or two to load the regular boxing action back up! There's a slightly entertaining mini-game when you get knocked down, in which you have to guide a bullseye onto a moving target to rise, but again, the pauses really disrupt the gameplay and prevent the suspension of disbelief. The get-up mini-game is one of the few good things in this game; others involve the presence an energy bar to increase the strategy involved in the game and...well, I'm sure there's something else, but I just haven't found it yet. And I'm not sure that I'll spend another few minutes on this game to find out...ever.Lire l'avis complet...

Do not bother with this game - a waste of time.

I bought this game used (but in excellent condition) for $0.99 plus shipping. I really enjoy Wii Boxing (the game in the Wii Sports package) and was looking to add to my collection of boxing / sports games for the Wii. Showtime Championship Boxing is by far the worst game I've played on the Wii. There is no way to customize your fighter (you pick from a menu and unlock new characters as you advance), no career mode and no training mode (which I think would be cool). You cannot save your progress unless you complete a phase of the game (i.e. win an Amateur or Contender or other belt). The game mechanics are extremely poor and frustrating, and the game is lackluster and simply boring. The worst part, however, are the animation and graphics, which belong in an early-1990s PC game. I can't believe someone did such a poor job on this game. The overall product looks like something developed by amateur gaming enthusiasts and intended for free download, not a product marketed for retail. I read the reviews before purchasing the game but couldn't believe it could be THAT bad. It is. Unless you can get it for $0.99, do not bother purchasing this game. I'd give it half a star if that were possible, but one seems to be the minimum.Lire l'avis complet...

So so

It gets an average rating from me because of the uneasy movements in boxing. The graphics are ok, but I expected more from the Wii and incorporating the better boxing game than what comes with the Wii sports. I thought it would be more like Fight Night for PS or Xbox and it wasn't. I give it average because I know in time things will get better for the movement with the Wii games so I can be patient. Just won't be playing it that much gusto or enthusiasm.Lire l'avis complet...

SHOW me a better TIME!

This is no reflection on the seller, but this is the worst game I have played in a while. It was glitchy, graphics weren't great, and the gameplay was awful. If you are looking for a boxing game for the WII, stick to WII Sports. The DSI in DSI Games must stand for Dead Software Incorporated. I bought it because it was a cheap WII game ($20.00) and I still feel cheated. If someone bought my this for anyone in my family, I might be tempted to go a few rounds with them. If I were on the design team, I would sue to have my name removed from this product. Definitely a DO NOT BUY! Do not even receive for free! (Sorry, it is that bad, REALLY!!!) If you are stuck with one of these, do not waste your shelf space, immediately take it to a game stop and receive your 5 cents for it. (Not sure really what they'll give you once they stop laughing). In fact you might be better off just throwing it away and save yourself the embarrassment.Lire l'avis complet...

NO TIME for Showtime Championship Boxing (wii)

Knowing the the WII lacks in graphic capability, still the graphics in this game are reminiscent of the PS-one. The control response is that of your grandma with crippling hip arthritis. (It really is a condition people) This game is just another example of get it out fast while the train is moving and the ticket is hot. If your really interested in trying this game please save yourself the money and rent this game first. In fact try renting a game before you purchase anything. Unless its an official Nintendo Game. For example Names in the title like Mario and Zelda. Games in that nature are usually fun for everyone. Please Please don't buy this game. Why else would the seller be trying to rid themselves of this load of garbage.Lire l'avis complet...

Show time Championship boxing

I HAVE BEEN SEVERELY DISSAPOINTED IN THIS GAME. THE GRAPHICS ARE NICE, BUT THE WII CAN'T HANDLE GOOD GRAPHICS and THE CONSOLE IS NOT DESIGNED FOR GRAPHICS LIKE THIS, SO YOUR PUNCHES ARE DELAYED MOVEMENT IS ALWAYS slow RUNNING BEHIND real time..

I LIKE THE FACT YOU CAN have up to 12 ROUNDS IN A FIGHT THAN THE REGULAR Wii you only get 3 rounds. I WAS WISHING THE GAME WOULD BE SIMILAR IN MOVEMENTS to the regular wii boxing. Punching should be the focus nor moving a joy stick. anyway, I wouldn't have bought it knowing what I know now.

Wasn't Happy

It wasnt what i expected it to be. When you throw an uppercut it doesnt do it in this game. You can only throw standard punches. No special characters, no exciting music. Its pretty average nothing special.Lire l'avis complet...

This is a good program to go with the Wii.

It was easy enough for my 5 year old grandson to get used to it, but it got progressively challenging. Good product.

Great workout!

I find this game some what difficult to win. My 7 year old has a really hard time with it and he was the one I bought it for. It is a good game if you like a challenge. Graphics are pretty good.
