So bad it is great!

Remember seeing this movie at the theater back in my last year of college. The movie seemed so terrible written and overacted by the cast. The girls were very hot though. I noticed that the older I got that the movie is terrible written and overacted but no matter what if it popped up on TV throughout the years I would leave it and not change the channel. It is very cheesy but it is actually so good that it takes several viewings through the years to realize that. It even has a massive cult following now. Thumbs up on this cult classic.

I can't get enough of this movie. It's one of them 'so bad it's so good' types.

I had just one qualm with the DVD itself and that would be the aspect ratio which was extremely off. I had to change the settings & zoom into the picture for full visual effect which in turn distorted the quality of said picture. Alas, it was bearable.

Should Be Called Show It All Girls

Ok one thing this movie has going for it is naked Girls..I couldn't stand Nomi, first of all she's not as gorgeous as she's made out to be..second she's too whiney..my Partner everytime Nomi would fly into a tirade would say "what is she 2" her second favorite thing to say about Nomi was "what a bitch" we did like her Friend the one with the braids..what a sweet Girl she has alot of patience that's for sure I would have told Nomi off during that first meeting, but she didn't she hung in there! The only other person worth anything was the dance instructor..I really wish Elizabeth Berkley had taken some kind of dance lessons and if she did she should get a refund..she also is guilty of overacting!! Still this movie is alot of sex for the money so if you enjoy sex sex and more sex also four letter words and watching people being stupid on drugs then this movie is for you!! My favorite part was the makeup and the costumes..some of the Girls were gorgeous I just think they should find less degrading jobs..oh and btw taking kids backstage in a strip club can we say bad Mother!!Lire l'avis complet...

Light porn. They go thru the motions but just show skin. OK storyline and characters. Ending was strange, just my opinion. Not for children.

Much ado about nothing

With all the hoopla about this film, I decided I finally had to see it. Well, I found out I really hadn't missed much. I wanted to like Nomi Malone, but there isn't a whole lot to like...yet somehow all these hard-nosed Las Vegas types keep finding it in their hearts to give her break after break. Elizabeth Berkley is beautiful, but she makes Nomi an emotional basket case and if that isn't enough, this is one of those movies where nothing much ever seems to be going on...no easy task, given the subject matter.
So I have to say Showgirls is definitely a two-star (below average) film.Lire l'avis complet...

Riveting and cult-like

This has been one of my favorite, much watched films of the 90's. The characters are so unreal, unlikable and pompous yet so outrageous in the vein of Ziggy Stardust or Rocky Horror. You can't take your eyes away or you'll miss something totally nonsensical. I applaud the talents of Eric MacLachlan and Gina Gershon. At least their careers weren't too terribly affected.

I highly recommend it to be viewed with your friends - not family due to the exaggerated sexual content.Lire l'avis complet...
