Wow! I am blown away by this mic!

I have a Demeter Silent Speaker Iso Box that I have been using a 57 and a 58 in with semi-satisfying results. I built a second box to put the Demeter in to even further cut down on the sound levels in my studio. I have taken the door off of the Demeter to let it breath and it takes away all the boxiness of the sound. The only thing missing was this mic! It sounds so much better I can't even believe it! It's so much more balanced and it has smoothed out the mids that have a tendency to build up in a small space like this. Blending the 58 in brings back a little of the "mid scoop" present in the 906. The super cardioid polar pattern of this mic is perfect for this application. From clean to crunch to distortion, my iso rig now sounds like a mic'd up cab in a dead room. All of my stomp boxes and guitars are now in play as they sound like real guitars and not mid range and nasally toys. I am blown away! Buy this mic and follow this recipe if you want an iso box to sound like an isolation room. I'm sure it sounds great in a room as well but the iso box is a more critical situation that only this mic works in. Buy it!Lire l'avis complet...

SuperCardioid Guitar amp mic

Like its little sister, the e609, it's designed to hang in front of a guitar amp and that's where I have found it best used; between congas is useful, too. The high-boost, high-cut, flat switch is helpful and it has the high finish and feel of the 9-series stage mics. If it had a stronger magnet and a pad, it'd be a goto drum mic as well, instead of the quirky 421. Well recommended but there's room for enhancement.Lire l'avis complet...

Just buy it!

Great mic! Worth every penny! I’ve used some of their other mics, but this is by far the best I’ve used. For a little more than a good shure57, this was worth it. I especially like the three way presence switch on the mic, a very easy to use mic with awesome results. Highly recommended!Lire l'avis complet...

A Sound Choice !!!

Another high-quality product from Sennheiser. I use the e906 for recording guitar in conjunction with a Shure SM57 in an isolation cabinet. I like the "presence boost" switch engaged. I found that I liked that sound better than the "flat" position of the e906 or what I hear with the Sennheiser e609 version.

I also record guitar speaker cabinets using the e906 on one speaker and an e609 one the other speaker.

Quality sound from a quality company.

Clear, full and well-defined sound

This mic sounds fantastic. It captures the full range of frequencies with clarity and clean note articulation. The boost/flat/cut switch is handy for scuplting the presence of the sound (~2.4k) being captured. The best mic I've used on a guitar amp!Lire l'avis complet...

perfect for rock guitar amp

I have been using sm 57 for years and years on my guitar amp. I found this 906 to be more authentic sounding with effects through the PA. High headroom with no change in character from soft to loud. I haven't tried any different setting yet.Lire l'avis complet...

Excellent mic for guitars and more.

These mics came highly recommended by another sound engineer I know and, having owned the lesser e609 mics, I decided to take the plunge when I found these at a fantastic price.

Pros: Excellent sound quality. Have used it in front of a few different types of bands guitar amps and found it did a fine job whether they played the blues or rock. The filter suggestions in the manual worked and I look forward to trying it with a heavier band to see how it does.

Cons: None so far, but if the quality of the 609's that I own, one for over 20 years, is any indication, then this mic will provide years of quality sound reproduction.

Brand new, these come with a soft cloth mic bag, mic clip, mic stand euro-adapter and manual.

A real gem!

I have always been a fan of miking guitar cabs and recording the real deal, as opposed to using DI components to capture a boxed sound. There's nothing like a quality tube amp screaming out its soul as your fingers dance across the fretboard of your favorite axe. You simply can't emulate it properly no matter what analog or digital DI gear you use. Yet the often countless hours spent trying to compensate for e.g. substandard recording environment by moving an SM57 around to capture this, have frequently led me to just settle for a recording of the composition only, using boxed tone, and leave recording killer tone for another day. But no more :) I came across this microphone here at eBay when looking around for other upgrades for my project studio, and figured I'd try it, seeing many of the reviews it got were very good.
And now I can say they were deserved, cause this is actually an excellent value for money, high quality guitar cab microphone, which at least in my studio blows the SM57 away. The Sennheiser's three configuration options make it far more versatile than the SM57 from the get-go, it's plug and play, and its polarity makes your recording surroundings almost irrelevant. The Sennheiser captures the direct sound, period. This has made it a lot easier to mike cabs again, which is now my preferred way of recording my music.
For the price, I think it's a no-brainer, this mic deserves a place in the microphone collection of anyone who's occupied with recording the sound of true guitar tone. It's my best mic investment ever!

Best over 57, MD421, EV ND/468, and almost the Sennheiser MD441U

This mic was the best of the litter. It is NOT the same as a 609, it is a different mic with a different cartridge and frequency range. This mic sounded best of all my mics on guitar cabs. Captured much more tone. If you are doing metal or thrash, you may not need the perfection this offers. But if you have to capture all the tone of the guitar, this is the best next to the Sennheiser MD441ULire l'avis complet...

If you mic it, sound will come

A great plug and play mic for guitar cab's, drums, congas, etc. Love having the roll off switch to customize the sound without a lot or "coloring".
