Section 8

Apparently, in the US Military Section 8 refers to being kicked out for being mentally unfit for combat. This tepid FPS proposes a new definition: being kicked out for being too boring for combat.

Master Chief's energy shields pale in comparison to those seen in Section 8. Not only can they soak up sniper rifle shots to the head with ease, you have another layer of metallic armour underneath, and another layer of physical health beyond that.

It might sound handy, but your enemies have the same and take ages to kill. As you stand there pumping bullets into a bad guy, you can feel a little more of your life wasted as his energy bar slowly trickles down.

It only gets worse in the later levels of the campaign, where the officers and mini-mechs just brush off missiles and grenades as if they're nothing. It's a slow, boring grind.

Other tweaks to the first-person shooting experience annoy rather than improve. The recharging shield system doesn't allow you to retreat into cover, like in Halo, because the hero of Section 8 moves so slowly you lose too much health in the process. The sprint action takes five seconds to warm up before you can even start running.

Things make more sense in multiplayer. At the start of each mission, you're dropped in from orbit and can choose roughly where to land on the map, making spawn camping practically impossible. Certain levels feature AA guns which prevent you from landing directly on top of the enemy bases. These can be deactivated by troops on the ground, which makes for entertaining tug-of-war battles over the control stations.

There are multiple character classes to choose from, each with a different weapon load-out and upgradeable perks. You earn points for completing tasks in multiplayer, which can be spent on even stronger armour, aiming assists and improved damage. The character customisation runs deep and is easily Section 8's best feature.

By comparison, the single-player Campaign mode feels like a very shallow extension. The maps are the same, and only the order of the mission objectives really changes. Even the enemies are the same as the AI bots that you can use in the online modes.

You can see what Section 8 was trying to achieve - a kind of anti-Halo where you can't spawn camp and won't die every ten seconds - but the end result is way too slow and lacking in excitement.Lire l'avis complet...

This is a game that my son had asked for. He was thrilled it arrived very quickly. The game is in mint condition and plays like new. My son really likes
it. The graphics of the game are awesome and the action is great. My son is
a big fan of Halo games and he likes this one just as much. I bought it when
I was able to get it at a great price, especially for an XBOX 360 game. He
has played it every day since it arrived and has shown it to his friends,
