A lot of bang for the buck!

I have many Samsung products: a Blu-ray player, a TV and a Galaxy S4 cell phone in addition to the DVD-C500. This DVD player upscales [upconverts] the image via the HDMI digital output which improves the video quality compared to the analog outputs. This player has component and composite video outputs in addition to the HDMI output which makes it possible to connect it to any TV. The reason I rated this player 4 instead of 5 stars is because the audio drops out on the chapter markers via the HDMI output, but that does not happen via the analog audio output. I've purchased 2 of these players thus far, 1 for a friend, and will be purchasing another one soon for another friend. good player, has been reliable and worth what I paid

I have played a lot of DVD's on it have have only had problems something like 2 times. It glitched on the upconverting feature and the image and started giving a bit of unleveled (every other line was slightly off center) lines on the screen. This only happened when I was skipping around on the DVD. I hit next chapter and then back and it was back to normal. It never did it during normal play though. I like that it has the adjustable size for the screen, this way when you do something like record a show and it was shown in widescreen, but sent out on 4:3 aspect, you can stretch the screen up and down along with side to side so the picture is not so distorted. My other upconverting DVD player only stretches it sideways. Overall, it has been very reliable and have had almost no problems. good picture, nice remote (not cheaply made), easy access buttons for common features like subtitles, etc. If anything , my only complaint would be that there is only 3 buttons on the front.. stop/eject, play/pause, and power. but I guess that is the norm for these days.Lire l'avis complet...

Love the remote control and functions

After installing this unit, you literally never have to touch the DVD player because the remote control has all functions on it, including eject. The digital display is at a decent brightness and good color, green, as not to be distracting. Also, I searched this unit out because the remote control will control Samsung brand TV's, which is what I have, along with my mother. Not what I thought it was, but was able to make it into a region free playr

I got this DVD player because it was sold as a PAL/NTSC Region free player. When I took it out of the box, the label on the back showed it was a region 1 only. I was ready to send it back, but then I decided to look on the internet, as I read a review that stated that there was a program hack to make this player region free. I searched the internet and found a program hack and had the player converted quick and easy using the players remote control within 5 minutes. I would had rated it a 5 if Samsung did the re-program or they had the instructions in the manual to change it over.Lire l'avis complet...

More than sufficient dvd player

Have very few dvds. After reading about Blu-ray and dvd, decided this is all we need for a quality picture.

it is totally decent i had no prob with the Closed Caption subtitles , etc.
the only tricky part is that you need to turn the remote on dvd and not tv, it isn't obvious and I am not stupid. also the tv codes are not up to dateLire l'avis complet...
