LOVE LOVE LOVE

This is a very cool 45 rpm picture disc. Of course it is because it plays The Hu Band. But wait! There's more!!

The record is heavy, man. Metaphysically it's heavy, sure, but the actual disc is heavy - like the old Victrola 78 rpms. Thicc. Solid Sturdy. You could prally kill a zombie with it. Srsly.

The Hu Band does a great cover of Metallica's Sad but True. I like it better than the original. Then again, I disdain Metallica (the band, not their music) for their involvement in killing Napster and massive free p2p file sharing. So I'm much happier rocking with The Hu Band.

Before talking B side, ya gotta appreciate the best A side disc art. All the graphics and text are red or white on the black vinyl. I have no idea what the animal depicted is but if you can picture Smaug the dragon on cat crack then you're probably pretty close. The B side graphics are even BETTER!! Only posting the A side pic, though, so you have something awesome to look forward to.

Now, the B side, aside from the excellent graphics, is why I bought this record. Wolf Totem is a tremendous song. Of course the instruments are pretty amazing (watch a video - authentic Mongolian band equipment is uniquely beautiful), and the lyrics are timely and meaningful even though it deals with Mongolian history, it describes all modern societies.

Of course there's BONUS!! Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach does lead vocals on this version! I swear, it is such a smooth mesh that you'd think they'd been born & raised together. I love the video for this, as well. Jacoby looks like 1. He's found his people, and 2. It's his birthday. He looks so HAPPY! And, you can see that it's a great combination of the people he is with and the music they are sharing together. It's a prime example of why they say that musicians 'play' instead of saying musicians work, and it comes through when you listen to Wolf Totem.
