Good series, weak movie

I had read some interesting reviews of Utena, so I decided to check it out. The series is a sprawling, fun adventure. The humor is bizarre and the action frequency is enough. Unlike the director's Sailor Moon series, this one skips the villian of the week and keeps the opponents to a few classmates. What makes this much better is that these characters are more complex, especially as the series progresses.

I was hooked enough to get the next installment in the series.

Oddly, the movie is included in this first boxed set, not with the final collection. I held off watching it until I finished the series and I'm glad I did. The series has so much in it they were not able to condense it in any really coherent fashion and I found it disappointing. The movie dragged my rating down, but definitely a series worth watching.Lire l'avis complet...
