Might have won me over but absolutely no story-line or plot, yet effective.

Wishing & hoping for a sci-fi thrill, I was surprisingly shocked that this film was actually just a string of discombobulated scenes that didn't seem to have much direction. Someone said it best when they described the film as "Battlefield Earth" marries "The Matrix" and then has an affair with "Ultra Violet" & after a bit of philandering around, the end result is the bastard child we now can call Resident Evil:Afterlife.

How on "God's green earth" did Paul Anderson talk Milla Jovovich into playing another one of these roles is beyond me.
Don't get me wrong, I think she's the hottest thing ever to hit the big screen, but this RE kills any other chance.
Paul seems to have a disconnect with reality and short and long term memory loss when it comes to the direction of this film. There seems to be absolutely no continuity to the story-line & really doesn't explain anything more about the evil beguiled Umbrella corporation. We have to consider that the only reason we get hooked up in Los Angeles is to get back into the underground facility & see those sorry souls get slowly taken out by zombies.

I only wonder what it would have been like to see the 3D version of this in theaters because of the special effect overuse of Deus-ex-machina were a bit engaging at times, but fails to carry the film anywhere but back down on the cutting room floor. The use of flashbacks made a effect, but didn't add a bit to the continuity of the storyline. There were scenes that almost made me want to hurl because of the ridiculous stupidity of it. The one that comes to mind is when the heroines are shooting the bad guy with their guns over and over and over. What's up with that? That's a wee bit too boring to be entertaining somehow. We've supposedly got zombie monsters crawling all around so why would anyone spend that much time shooting up a dead zombie?

What's even less believable is the never ending supply of ammunition that comes out of those handguns. No one seems to be worried about eating either. Also if it's been 5 years after the end of civilization, then why is the Hollywood sign still burning.

The beauties starring in Afterlife are all well groomed and have extremely good hygiene. You would think that all the characters had been through the wars covered in mud and guts. Obviously between takes, the stars get a manicure and pedicure and makeup touch up with hair almost falling naturally right out of a Paul Mitchell commercial. Would or should only a few survivors have designer trimmed beards, haircuts, clothes in perfect pressed and dry cleaned condition? Amazingly the small aircraft seems to have an endless supply of fuel.

As far as Arcadia, the supposedly save house ship, where in the world are they hiding the somewhat more that 15000 souls? Certainly not on the deck of the ship?

What seems to me to be the most preposterous thing of all is the comical creature with the large hammer knocking down a metal door. You mustn't miss this.

Let's swim underwater, whilst holding our breath for 20 minutes to an armory. Luckily, for our flexible & determined characters who seem to be quite confident in any unplanned endeavor, have the opportunity to stumble across more weapons & ammunition that miraculously are stored together in the same room. Looking up we find a totally ridiculous security breach where the giant air conditioned unit leads us straight up to the roof of the building. That's the magic of this movie group, make it up as we go along.

Loves me some zombies

I've been a fan of this francise ever since the video games. However the movies stray from the original story line, they still constain most of the key elements that made the games exciting and frightening. The first movie being my favorite, each sequel manages to maintain, adding characters and element from the games. Action packed and fast paced, this movie would have scored an excellent from me if it would have been more claustrophobic, suspenceful and gory. If you are a fan of the genre or just like a good action/horror movie that's popcorn freindly, you'll enjoy this latest addition to the franchise.Lire l'avis complet...

Resident Evil: Afterlife (Blu-ray Disc, 2010)

OK. This is the first time I have reviewed anything I have bought on e-bay. And I have bought A LOT of items on e-bay. Just thought I would give a review of an item a try. First, I love the Resident Evil series movies. They are just entertaining and fun, especially if you like the zombie/action type movies, with the hero as a tough cool female character with a lot of different guns and gun-fire, sword fights, etc. And the main character, Milla Jovovich, is not bad to look at either. If you are looking for an Academy Award Oscar type drama movie, this ain't it. It's not suppose to be realistic, have a creative dialogue, have scenes that totally make sense, or have a very serious critique. Not everything has to be explained or closely analyzed in these types of movies. I do not classify it as a typical slasher murder type movie (ex: Jason, Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy Krueger,) which I hate to watch. Those are just murder after murder. But, this has special effects that are quite good (although clearly cgi effected on some) and sometimes over the top, with the added slow-motion type scenes thrown in. It's the fourth in the series, and it's also much more than a zombie movie, it's also about going against a corrupt corporation that has started this whole mayhem apacolyptic type world. (with a lot of bad guys, rabid-freaked dogs, and crazy type monsters thrown in for added measure). I bought the blu ray version dvd for the extra quality effects and added material, and it was a good price off e-bay compared to local retailer stores. The movie might not be for everyone, and you probably should watch all the previous Resident Evil movies first, to keep up to date on what's going on, but I thought it was entertaining and that's why I love movies. To be entertained.Lire l'avis complet...

A great zombie action movie worth the money.

I bought the Resident Evil trilogy, and it is definitely my favorite zombie action movie set, so I had to get Afterlife. I've heard many people say they were dissappointed with it and it was there least favorite out of the R.E. movies, but that is not my opinion. I actually liked Afterlife and feel it's a toss up between it and Extinction as my favorite of the four. The movie was done well and has some interesting twists, of course. One complaint I've heard is that they should have done more with the Alice clones, and sure they could have, but it didn't really bother me. The end leaves you in suspense for another movie. Definitely worth the money, in my opinion, if you're a fan of Res. Evil.Lire l'avis complet...

Not Awful

After the trilogy was complete I didn't expect another movie in the series. I'm not usually a fan of sequels, most of them are a poor effort at getting a few bucks out of an established franchise. Still this movie was not at all bad. The plot wasn't as developed as the previous ones, but it did pull off a few good surprises. The acting was uniformly good. The action sequences, which sold this series in the first place, were first rate. All in all, if you enjoy the horror/action genre this movie won't disappoint you.Lire l'avis complet...
