Great read for any aspiring rock group/musician
If you're a Cheap Trick fan (and that includes anyone with exceptional taste in music) this is a must-read. The book spans early years and proto bands (Grim Reapers, Fuse, Paegan, Sick Men of Europe etc) through "Cheap Trick's" years at Epic/Sony, Warner, and their first independent (Red Ant) release.
"Reputation" includes the REAL biographies of the band and its members (no, Tom did NOT work in a sardine factory and Bun E was NOT born in Venezuela). It covers their "overnight" rise to become the #4 ranked band in the US (At Budokan live album); the various issues that saw them decline in popularity; the "Tom-breakup"; the reunion; their return to popularity (US #1 song "the Flame"); and their moves to Warner then independent records. Great photos included.
It's now been 41 years since Cheap Trick became Cheap Trick, and that's 41 years of constant performances with 16 studio/4 live albums to their credit. "Reputation" is a story of perseverance meets love-of-music meets a unique rock style/talent. It sometimes gets a bit drawn out with set lists and so forth, but it's a great read for any aspiring rock group...and especially for the Cheap Trick faithful. Hard to find, but well worth the added effort.
Looking forward to volume 2, "The Indie Years + the Return of Bun E."Lire l'avis complet...
