Very Fun, But Could Be Kind of Hard

This Game at First may not look appealing because of it's Cover, but the Game is tons of Fun. It's like GTA and Saints Row, but on Mars. The Setting is not as diverse as those Games, but you do get immersed into its Universe. The Main Sell of this Game is the ability to destroy anything and everything. You get many weapons, vehicles, and a jet pack at your disposal to accomplish this. Plus you also get a RoboTech kind of Contraption that makes battles with tanks and armies easier (think District 9). My Favorite really is just going around and hitting things with my Sledgehammer. Vehicles also handle Great with a Soundtrack that pumps you up before action moments. This Game is also Heavily Supported with DLC, so there's extra incentives to come back and play.

Some things I didn't like was the lack of Weapons I can handle at a time. You only get to carry 4 Weapons and one has to be a Sledgehammer. Game difficulty also seems unbalanced. I found myself dying a lot. Many times you'll feel like one man battling a whole army. You'll get help from fellow guerrillas, but it still can feel a little overwhelming at times. If you like a Good Challenge, this shouldn't be a problem. There are Cheats, but I refuse to do so until I pass the game. Try not being Rambo when playing this even though it's so tempting to do so. Story also doesn't get Fleshed out too well. In the Trailers, it seems to have potential; but it didn't get fully developed like it could have been. I think this Character had potential to go Mainstream like Nathan Drake and Niko Bellic, but he might have to wait for a sequel.

All in all I had a Great Time with this game. It's certainly an underrated title I think more people should play. It's an ambitious title that lets you cause destruction in a sandbox style world. Highly Recommended for Action and Shooter Fans out there.

Cheapskate Gamer Review: Red Faction Guerilla

Welcome to another Cheapskate Gamer review

Plot:
The plot for this red faction is extremely simple. Bad government oppressing people, people form guerilla militia to fight bad government. There are no sudden twists, no hidden loyalties, no sneaky plans behind plans. I found myself really wishing there was.
If you are looking for a good plot, look elsewhere.

Graphics:
The graphics in this game are really quite good. The textures are well defined and clean. There is nothing that looks like a closeup of a sidewalk stretched and blurred to cover an entire wall. The engine is built to handle massive amounts of data and does so very well. I have played for over 24 hours total so far and only seen one instance of a mountain appearing as I grew closer. I have had no stutters or lock ups. All in all, pretty good graphics.

Controls:
The controls in this game are more or less standard for a 3rd person shooter. You run with the left, aim with the right, shoot with a shoulder and you have an action button for activating mission markers. However the controls do feel a touch clunky at times. Just FYI, there is no aim assist, if you prefer that sort of thing.

Engine:
The engine for this game is very well built. The entire game runs on the Havok Engine(tm) and I found myself very pleased with it. Massive piles of rubble left behind every time you destroy a building pile up nicely without any stutters or jigging. Object interactions are better than in several other games I have played. Everything runs smoothly and you won't get sucked out of the action.

Gameplay:
Gameplay in this Red Faction is fairly straight forward. You drive or run across the map to a mission icon or listen to the faction coms frequency. You are given a mission and you do it.
The five types of missions break down into four categories: shooting, driving, bomb work, and combination.
In shooting missions you are, you guessed it, shooting. This includes assault and defense of areas in which you and your teammates must eliminate all the EDF forces in an area. (I prefer to just use my hammer or the giant battle axe known as the Gutter and sprint around a lot to avoid getting shot)
In driving missions you drive. This means bringing someone or a vehicle elsewhere. The concept isn't difficult.
In Bomb missions you are sort of playing a tutorial. They are ways of learning about the physics of the game via simple small missions in which you obliterate various structures around the map.
Lastly I mention combination type missions. In missions actually related to the storyline you generally have to do a combination of the above.

Overall:
Overall I would say that this is a fairly good game. It's fun. The concept is fun. The physics are unrealistically fun. If this game had an actual storyline it would be approaching excellent gaming. I have a few minor complaints but nothing major.

Breakdown:
Story: 4/16
Graphics: 15/16
Controls: 12/16
Engine: 15/16
Gameplay: 12/16
Overall: 13/16
I won't pay more than $16 for a game without a good reason. This game I would buy for up to $13.

GET THE GAME, you will enjoy it. similar to GTA san andreas/Red Faction 1

This is a great game. i loved the original too. i played the demo for this first and didnt like it for some reason. but then i saw that a 3rd one had come out so i decided to look up Guerilla (#2). i read a bunch of reviews that gave it pretty much 9/10.

so i decided to get it. and at $13 bucks its a great value.

it is an open world that you do missions in, and as you complete missions the map opens up, similar to GTA san andreas (since some missions are semi spread out, but there are still towns/cities.

most of the missions are the same:

destroy building(s)
help rebel alliance escape capture
help hold off forces until your alliance completed a task
destroy convoy
steal car and get it to safe house in time
and maybe a couple others

even though most the missions had the same premise, they still had variety to them and were mixed up pretty well.

there was also side "games", like destroy building using only "X" weapon in 45 seconds (for example)

overall, if you get it for $20 or under you will be happy with your purchase. i dont think i will buy the 3rd game, but am very glad i bought the 2nd.

i love being able to get a tank or big car and smash through buildings. i like being able to get into big @@s mechs and smash cars/people/buildings. i like the rockets/bombs/hammer.

so overall its like GTA, with missions that are similar but still different, and the map is most similar to san andreas since its semi spread out, but not too bad. for instance i thought the latest farcry (africa) was WAY TOO SPREAD out, this game isnt that bad.

Red Faction: Guerrilla

Red Faction: Guerrilla is a average or good game. The graphics and sound are good enough. As for the gameplay it is fun and being able to destroy any building and vehicle is very enjoyable. Driving in the game is a bit clunky and the backgrounds are boring at times, although their are a wide variety of cool martian vehicles to drive. But once you get to the last to sectors in the game it's a lot nicer looking, the vehicle are better, and the game is more enjoyable.

The reason I give this game an excellent is not because of the single player but because of the online play. The online play consists of the usual deathmatch, capture the flag, siege, and others. It's a fun shooter, but the best part is the backpacks. Each gives you a unique power you can use(they take a couple seconds to recharge after each use). Their is one to heal you, make you run faster, make the ground tremble, knock people over, make yourself invisible, can run through and destroy anything, and see where enemies are(like x-ray vision). Not sure if I got them all, but its makes the multiplayer a lot of fun.

Review for Deady Premonition (Red Seeds Profile)

Get past the unpolished elements and give this game a chance. It is the type of game that will stay in your memory for quite a while, and you may even feel the urge to revisit the mysterious town of Greenvale every so often. This game is creepy, funny, weird, thrilling, and emotional all in one. You will love the characters, you will try to protect them, and you will be dying to solve this mystery. This is what a game is all about - a great, lasting, thrilling experience. Most games rely on gameplay to deliver their entertainment, but I feel like games like these are what its really all about. I dare you to guess the many twists of this game by the end, or better yet - just sit back and enjoy the ride. Oh, and make sure to try the turkey, strawberry jam, and cereal sandwich at Nick's diner while you're there. He's a great cook.Lire l'avis complet...

Viva La Revolucion.- on a martian planet.? wow

ok. so there are miners getting red ore.. or some type of ore on a planet.. you must destroy them for killing your friend.. you can drive your martian rover and shoot the miners.. collect scraps for upgrades.. The best part of this game is choosing the sledge hammer, then walking up behind your own crew and smashing them with it.. then watch as the rest of the crew tries to kill you.. FUN TIMES.. FUN TIMES. i was laughing the whole time.. they should make a game where you only get a SLEDGEHAMMER.. and you smash people like GALLEGHER the comedian smashes watermellons. Another good Red Faction game in the series.

I have purchased and played all of the Red Faction games over the years and this is another hit in my book. I wish there were more options in the controller set-up, but so far that is my only complaint. The graphics are amazing and the way you can destroy just about any object and have it break apart so realistically is awesome! I'm really glad to have this game in my collection...lots of fun!Lire l'avis complet...
