Portman is a very prolific composer. She is one of ....
Rachel Portman composer of such film scores, but not limited to, 1) The Cider House Rules, 2) Chacolot, 3) Nicholas Nickelby, 4) and this The Little Prince. Her only composed child opera "The Little Prince" was an overwhelming success in England and here in the US. The opera was and still is a favorite of children, even though you don't have to like opera to enjoy it. Portman shows off with her ability to structure phrases of music together into a tapestry of beautiful woven music. She is one of the finest composers of the century and I challenge you to pick one (any) of her scores or this opera to see what a true Maestro she really is.

Wonderful
This musical adaptation of the French fairy tale can be enjoyed by the whole family. One can simply view it as a pleasant fantasy or one can explore the many interesting philisophical topics it raises including Responsibility and Priorities. The perky Little Prince is played by the very talanted Joseph Mcmanners who does a fabulous job both in his singing and his acting. My only complaint is that they did not include the scene in the book where the Little Prince sees trains zooming by in both directions and wonders if the same people he just saw are now going the other way. If you enjoy Joseph Mcmanners here, be sure to check out his CD "In Dreams" for more great singing.Lire l'avis complet...

Rachel Portman - The Little Prince
This dream opera is very good and sadly, no closed caption included. I wasn't know what it said but Joseph McManner's acting is very good, looks he is bright kid.
