Beautiful to watch and play. Engaging story too.

The game is really fun and the story and characters are compelling. For a game from 2008, the graphics and art style both hold up really well and are gorgeous to look at. The limited-edition box is really nice looking too and it comes with a neat CD for the soundtrack. Yes, the soundtrack and music are great too. It really feels like a swashbuckling adventure.Lire l'avis complet...

Prince of Persia still amazing.

This game is seriously fun, unique in comparison to other contemporary games, and very beautiful. Several game mechanics are innovative or just plain one of a kind (you can continuously talk to your partner and she will constantly say new and relevant things). Underrated when it came out, and still competitive in
2019.

Prince of Persia 2008 review

This is an excellent game. It branches away from the story line of the main Prince of Persia series that is all about the sands of time to something completely different. The story in this game is about the prince (who is only a prince by name, not title) helping Princess Elika purify the land of her people that has been corrupted by an evil deity known as Ahriman. It uses cell shaded graphics, which I am a big fan of. It has great gameplay that is 75% platforming and 25% combat. The great thing about the gameplay is that all your actions flow together. The game is designed so that no single action has to be performed and then stop. It can immediately be followed by another action, allowing you to create long chains of attacks in combat that can dispatch enemies quickly. In platforming you have to create these long chains of movement to traverse the land. You can wall walk, grab onto rings attached to walls and ceilings and swing across them, jump from pillar to pillar, climb up and grind down walls using your gauntlet, and climb along vines. There are also these special pads that when moved onto, Elika's powers can be activated, and 1 of 4 special movement types will be activated that create more platforming elements. The game recieved many good reviews and bad ones, with the bads ones citing the game as "too easy" or "repetitive".Lire l'avis complet...

PoP - typical Ubisoft game

The story is nice and it has a good ending...
The visuals are very good
The gameplay is good when you are walking around, but poor during fights

But the game has a HUGE negative side: it looks like everything you do is a repetition of what was done in the very first phase. The first 30 minutes of gameplay are good and the remaining hours are a repetition of the first 30 minutes.
Ubisoft did cut the same corners in Assassin's Creed. I will think twice before buying the next game from them.

By the way: the bonus disc that comes with the limited edition is not worth it. I was expecting a true making off. What i got was a very short film picturing game desiners in their offices... very poor content. i would rather get as a bonus from Ubisofft a blank Blue Ray disc, I would have a better use for it.

Seamless Expression of Motion

This is a fantastic start to the Prince of Persia series on the Xbox 360. It's not too long, but just long enough. The story takes around 10-14 hours to go through. It's longer if you try to obtain all 1001 light seeds, but it was such a magical game. The dramatic visual style and the flow will keep you hooked for hours. It is also equally visually engaging to watch for anyone sitting next to you (it's a single player game). While the game has it's shortcomings, I did not find any bugs or glitches in this game. Prince of Persia has been well polished and was not rushed out. The design team spent over 2 and half years crafting this masterpiece. You will read reviews that criticize how easy the game is, but look at it another way. It is an eloquently designed game that does away with the standard gaming conventions like the game ending death or tedious repetition. The enjoyment is found in the journey and it's fluid expression of movement.Lire l'avis complet...

Nimble, Nimble Toes: Game of The Year Contender

Pros:
+Acrobatic gameplay: cool wall runs, combo jumps, and wall climbs in a vertical environment
+Illustrative cell-shaded graphics – wow! It feels like playing a Disney animated film
+Two-character combo attack battle sequences are fun
+Game play mechanics fairly easy to grasp; limited multi-button moves
+Good length: not too long or short (under 12 hours to beat game)
+Open ended exploration of the world’s four main levels
+All Xbox/PS3 trophies are obtainable based on skill and persistence, not luck
+ Unusual Pro: Somewhat Genuine Characters: The individual emotional characters and differing philosophical worldviews of the Prince and Elika adapt and develop throughout the game. This level of intelligence is seen in independent films but rarely in video games. Ubisoft genuinely tried to make the characters lifelike. While the Prince and Elika still seem two-dimensional most of the time, there are particularly powerful moments that break videogame stereotypes, particularly in the game’s final sequence. I would advise anyone not to ask how the game ends; play it, think outside the box, and see for yourself. I was genuinely surprised. Nice touch, Ubisoft Montreal.

Cons:
-Limited Help: Sometimes I pressed L2 for Elika’s help, and she would launch into useless trivia about Ormazd, god of light, and Ahraman, god of darkness. Enough already! Help me figure out how to fix the garden ponds and tower gears.
-Bad Timing: Most of the time she is fine, but occasionally Elika will get in your way during crucial timed sequences. This is, I believe, intentional on the part of the game designers. Slow down, take it easy, and things will work out. If you rush in, Elika will mess up your timing to the point where you cannot avoid moving Corruption. Bad Elika! No light seeds for you.
- Blah, Blah, Blah: Certain cutscenes cannot be skipped. We are forced to listen to Elika ramble on about meaningless god factoids. After the first level, we get the picture: Ormazd is good, Ahramain is bad, and Elika’s father is whacked. However, we are beaten over the head with these “facts” for three more levels. Ormazd, shmormazd: who cares?
-Biggest Con: There are definitely strong sexual references throughout the game. Elika’s clothing is borderline for a video game character, and both characters use suggestive dialogue. For example, at one point, the Prince tells Elika not to look at his a** while he climbs up a tower. In response, she looks right at his derriere. In another section, she advises the Prince that “we should go for what we want.” From the tone of her voice and body language, it’s pretty clear she’s not talking about finding more light seeds. Although nothing happens physically, the double entendre is very clear. In addition, if you unlock the Farah character skin for Elika, she runs around in a short red skirt that flashes her underwear when she jumps. This game is definitely not appropriate for children.

A new Prince, and still just as fun

The new Prince of Persia provides a refreshing new story and new prince. The game and platforming are what really make this game work. Though the combat is annoying at times, it just takes practice to really learn the timing and moves. Graphic's are stunning in 720P and the soundtrack is amazing. I think that's one of the main reasons I really like this game is between the visuals, sound, and the solid game play I never feel tense.

If you like Platformers like Ratchet and Clank, Jak, or Assassins Creed, I think you will totally enjoy your experience with the new Prince of Persia.

Awesome just Awesome

I love the original POP and to play the remake is just Awesome the game is beautiful in graphics and play and the second person you have to partner is easy to pick up. The only problem for the impatient gamer is that you need to be patient when controlling the charecter when you do the acrobatic moves and timing them. But if you have played the other P.O.P games you know is part of it anyway. The story line is fun and the enemy are fun is like an adventure games that will take you back during the clash of titans that movie we all enjoy or sinbad.Lire l'avis complet...
