Very Sexual Murder Mystery And Lots of Legal Corruption

Harrison Ford stars as prosecuting attorney Rusty Sabich in this legal murder mystery by the best selling novelist Scott Turow. The victim is his assistant, deputy prosecutor Carolyn Polhemus (Greta Scacchi), who has climbed to the top using sex in every way possible to further her career. Mind you, now, Carolyn is not a bad person. She has successfully prosecuted child abusing mothers among others and is always looking for a case where she can right some wrong.

The focus of the movie is on Carolyn's murder but there are red herrings galore. Eventually the list of suspects is narrowed to Rusty himself, who we know has had a torrid affair with her. The evidence seems conclusive. The body was found with Rusty's body fluids inside her. A wine glass with Rusty's fingerprints was photographed at the murder scene. There are numerous phone calls to Carolyn's apartment from Rusty's house. We see, too, that Carolyn has broken up with Rusty on the day of her murder.

But wait! There are other suspects galore. Their boss Raymond Horgan (Brian Dennehy) has also had an affair with Carolyn. Judge Larren Lyttle (Paul Winfield) trying the murder case has some weird connection to Carolyn. Tommy Malto, the lawyer prosecuting the case also has a previous bribery connection with Carolyn. And don't forget her x-husband, Mr. Polhemus (Michael Tolan), a university professor who practically raised Carolyn from nothing to the level of a law degree and then lost her.

There are other notable characters in the movie. Barbara Sabich (Bonnie Bedelia) plays Rusty's loving wife, who knew of his affair and furiously had it out with him when she found out. Sandy Stern (Raul Julia) is Rusty's very brilliant attorney who lays the trail for a successful defense.

Directed by Alan Paluka, the movie does deliver an adequate explanation of the killer. We leave the DVD thoroughly satisfied but shocked!

This movie is NOT for children despite Harrison Ford's reputation. There is some nudity, graphic discussions of intercourse, as well as use of the f____ word throughout. It is also an alarming wake-up call to all of us that our legal and justice system is far from perfect.Lire l'avis complet...

They can't all be "best"....

Can't go five stars because it's not one of Harrison Ford's better films. It's interesting, for the most part, but lacks some of the intensity of his better films.
Oh, HE is as intense as ever.... but the other cast members don't all measure up to his quality. It was interesting enough to watch to the end, and the plot kept things moving well enough, so it was still good enough for four stars.
If you're totally into modern tech, you may not enjoy it....you have to let yourself get involved at the date this movie was made....if you do that and don't overthink it, you will enjoy it.Lire l'avis complet...

Good myster who dunnit

Did he or didn't he kill his lover? This keeps you guessing. It has good actors and is a very entertaining movie.

Presumed Innocent

Presumed Innocent - This is a great movie and a great story. I will not give away the ending if you haven't seen it, but believe me, you don't see it coming. You really have to see this movie.
