Bravo for bad acting!

I missed this release when it originally came out and would have liked the blu-ray, however the restoration is so good the dvd is more than sufficient. All the same bonus features as the blu-ray and it does indeed look sharp and crisp on my 50 inch television. The colorized version is stunning as well. And a fantastic MST300 style Commentary by Mike Nelson will keep you laughing throughout this "its so bad, it's good", Ed Wood written and directed movie.

A really good bad movie

We like the campy & we go off the beaten path, so this was right up our alley. If you are looking for some bad acting, a bad script, bad production value (need I go on) give this movie a view.

This is the One to Get...Here's Why

PLAN 9 fell into public domain years ago, but get this version from Legend with the Mike Nelson commentary and the captions. You have your choice of colorized or non colorized on the same disc, so don't be offended if you are purist.Just stick to the B&W version. Legend did a great restoration job on the print before they did the colorization..it's the best I have ever seen, and is a true revelation. The image is shaper, clearer, so much improved.
There is an option you can select that puts subtitles on screen during the movie that gives you bios for the players and cool facts. Back in the day when this movie was still an underground hit, (before the Medveds or VHS), you'd go to someone's house at 3 a.m for a Plan 9 party, and they'd tell you over the movie soundtrack who was who, and what to look for, mistake wise.
This method is a lot better and you don't have to put up with commercials like we had to..
You still might want to run off a complete list of what goes wrong in the movie later on, but for new comers to the Wood movie world, this is a great way to start.
The Mike Nelson commentary runs like a lesser version of MST3K...he could have used the old writing team with him and you miss Crow and Servo..but they couldn't do this film on Satellite of Love because there is JUST too much talk..and this is as close as you re going to get to a reunion.
Also featured are some Ed Wood commercials and home movies...they are the next best thing to going through his attic.
The menu, like the rest of the project was done with a lot of love, and it's obvious the makers went the exta mile to show their love for the film.
Right now the DVD is a bargin because a lot of folks don't know about the extras and think it ONLY comes in the colorized version. Don't be fooled and don't let this one pass you by.Lire l'avis complet...

A Film That's So Bad it's a Guilty Pleasure!

I honestly love Plan 9 From Outer Space in all it's low budget glory. It is a goofy film that deserves it's comedy props. Although, there is a decent story line beneath all the poor over acting. Aliens from outer space have been trying to contact humanity to stop us from using a device that could harm both universes. The story line seems pretty awesome and it is -- but they didn't have the budget for it. Film is set up pretty much like a college or high school play. I do give props to the special effects. Even though you do see the strings to the "space ships" it looks more realistic than our overly computerized films of today. Definitely a film to check out for the horror fanatic! I prefer the classic black and white version but the color version is just as awesome. Definite good buy.Lire l'avis complet...

This movie is a hoot. My wife and I were glued to it, sooooo funny, especially now that its been colorized. The scene changes from day to night are hilarious. As cheesy as this movie is its incredible the amount of work the actors and producers put in to it and that is one of the major reasons this movie has stood the test of time. AN UNITENTIONAL COMEDY

COLORIZED AND COMMENTARY OPTIONS MAKE THIS OLD FUNNY SCI-FI MOVIE "BETTER" THEN EVER.I RECOMMEND IT.
