DDJ-RZ the Cadillac of Rekordbox Controllers

Seems like the DDJ-RZX had more integrated features, yet it seems like people didn't like the way jogs felt. The ones on the RZ are nice and heavy and smooth and capacitive not mechanical. Really like the feel. Love the big size of everything, nothing is cramped or toyish, feels like a real piece of kit compared to other controllers I've (cough NI) I decided to give up on integrated screens as seems like you still have to look at your laptop (I considered the Denon Prime 4 but it looked like too many controls crammed in a tight space). Everything is nicely spread out, feels solid, and being this is the flagship controller, came with all the needed licensing including DVS. I just need to buy some control vinyl, though its not needed just a nice extra for scratching of I wanted, I was scratching on this just fine. Love the vinyl break adjust knob and the jog tension adjust. Love the cue position displays. I can't believe I found this at such an awesome discount so I had to jump on it. I have not yet owned any pioneer DJ gear. I have also a traktor S8 and it left much to be desired even with using DVS for the play decks. I almost bought cdj-2000's to run in HID mode but why would I when I got this wholly integrated setup for a fraction of the cost of cdj's and about what my S8 cost. Rekordbox seems pretty mature now so I went for it not being a Serato fan. Overall very very happy with this unit. I like the pad modes on this better than traktor, not sure how they compare to serato. I like the pads are not exactly buttons so that you can actually finger drum with them and they are very responsive. I like the reverse play function. Just so many cool bells and whistles that come on this, no effects for the mic unfortunately but as a plus neither mic takes up an audio channel and his outs set of EQ and volume controls and a auto talk over function, so its meant just talk to your crowd and not be doing crazy vocals and that's fine as a DJ you don't have time to be rapping or singing or going nuts if you are doing a good job with your mixing and track selection as you should be. So overall I think this is a solid well built piece of gear I am loving it. It is rekindling my interest as my frustration points with my previous gear was killing my desire to even play. I'm sure NI gear is great for a particular niche of performer/producer types but I just want to mix and have fun and maybe do small gigs again some day and this unit will definitely be perfect for that. I'm sure it could cut on a big sound system also if they let you bring your own gear, but this is definitely perfect for the mobile DJ who wants a nice full size piece of gear that looks the part and plays it also. I'm stoked to learn rekordbox and check out the pioneer side of things. If you want the cdj experience without the cdj pricetag then my friend, this is the gear for you, unless you are a serato dj, then go for the DDJ-SZ or SZ2, but for me the RZ was my weapon of choice.Lire l'avis complet...
